I''ve narrowed down the search to these two settings. The first one is an Eli Jewels below. I love this setting and the girdle (I think that is the area on the knuckle side and fingernail side) is slathered in pave and intricate carvings. It is heavy platinum and the jeweler here in town says he''d make me a deal I couldn''t refuse.

This second one is a christopher desgins ring. It doesn''t have any detail in the girdle area, but I love the finger coverage. If both rings were the same price (they are not) and the center diamond was exactly the same, which one would you vote for?

Here is a larger photo of the Christopher designs one..Votes please>

what size is your finger and what size will the center stone be?

Out of those two I would go with the Eli designs one. The other one is just way too much IMO.

I wear a 6 and the center stone would be between 1.5 and 1.75. The photo doesn't show it, but the eli designs one is hand carved all around the shank on both sides.

ok, second question...are you going to wear this as a stand alone ring or are you planning on wearing it with a wedding band. This is an upgrade/annivesary ring right?

Eli!

I''ll wear it by itself. This is our 20th anniversary ring- my original ring was a 1/4 ct. marquis- brown color! ha.

I very much prefer the first over the second, I don''t like the square shaped stones with the round.

Ofcourse everyone has their own opinions and you need to decide for yourself.

the first one is much better looking IMHO

Eli. It just looks less busy. Too many different elements fighting for attention in the other ring. The point is to enhance the center stone, but detract from it.

Eli is less busy. Don''t like the square stones on the second one. I''d pick Eli.

I vote for the first one. The whole design seems to go together, where in the second one it's just too many different things going on.

well, I don''t know... I kinda like the second one as a stand alone ring. Have you seen it in person?

I like the 2nd one, but they''re both pretty.

I vote for the Eli, too. It seems to be the more harmonious of the two designs. :)

I''ve tried them both on. The eli one has a much higher profile which I don''t usually care for, but in this ring it doesn''t bother me. The Christopher designs one is more comfortable. In the picture, it seems that the side stones in the Christopher are enormous, but they really aren''t. The only drawback from the Christopher one (for me) is that the girdle area is very plain. The drawback from the eli one is the high profile. aarrgghh.

Second one, i think it actually looks less busy from the top.

When you say the Eli has a higher profile do you mean the whole ring or the stone itself sits out of the setting higher? It looks like, based on the gap between the stone and the halo, that the center diamond is very high in the Eli setting, but I would think you could specify that it be set a lot lower than in this version.

Although the picture doesn''t show it, there is a ring about 2mm wide filled with pave diamonds in a wave pattern under the center stone setting. Even with the center diamond tucked in further, the side profile is much higher than the other one. You can kind of see the edge of the pattern sticking out in the picture.

The eli one is in platinum for less than the other one in platinum because the jeweler has had it for a while.

well, i do like the first one best...but you mentioned it''s ''high'' which i think would bug me too. still, on gut instinct alone, my heart goes to the first one. which one makes your heart leap? that''s the question?

to my eye, the first one is ''cleaner'' and i''m a clean lined kind of person. i''d hate to sway you since this is such a personal preference. get the one that makes your own heart skip a beat when you see it.

Yesterday, I liked the Eli one. Today I like the Christopher one--probably just until this afternoon.

I vote for the second one. Oh and I love that kitty in your avatar. So cute!

That''s my cat maddie. She is a little touched in the head.

i like the first one better. more feminine. but i''d want to lower the diamond and get rid of a lot of that space below & around it.

I like the first one better.

The eli one is in platinum for less than the other one in platinum because the jeweler has had it for a while.
I don''t know the tcw of both but think the second has much more and that''s a good reason for higher price.

There are more votes for the eli than the Christopher so far. How do I know what to choose? Maybe one on each hand? (OK, need to put the kids through college). I love them both equally for different reasons. _just like my kids!
