Good evening all!

I''ve met the woman of my dreams and am currently learning all I can about diamonds and rings. These forums have been an invaluable source of information and, while this is my first post, I''ve frequented them hundreds of times for answers/examples/pictures/etc. While I am in no position at the moment to be able to purchase a ring for my girlfriend, I am taking the time now to really research and learn all I can so that when the day comes it''ll go as smoothly as possible. Additionally, I suffer from a visual impairment that, over the next year or so, stands a chance of getting significantly worse, rendering my eyes very untrustworthy and pretty unhelpful.

Therein lies my problem... I''ve come to love the Cushion shaped diamonds and as I''ve learned there''s no cookie-cutter formula to finding a great one. I''d really prefer that the ring be a surprise during my proposal, so I''d rather not go shopping with her when the time comes.

My ultimate questions is: when I''m ready to purchase a diamond, are there any sources from the list that you think wouldn''t mind taking a little extra time selecting a diamond for me, provided I gave them all the details of what I was looking for, including ratio''s and the type of cushion? It would be nice to find someone trustworthy who understands my extenuating circumstances & wouldn''t mind doing a little extra work to compare a few stones for brilliance and the like. And I''d be happy to pay a little more for the personalized help as I know it''s a hassle. Believe me, I''d rather be able to select one myself.

PS. The attached image is currently what I''m in love with in both the ring and the Cushioned cut. It''s from James Allen and it''s just perfect for her. Now to save up the money.

Try Good Old Gold. I got my diamond from them but since we''d already pretty much made up our mind before contacting them didn''t need or receive much help but there are lots of people on these forums who have had great experiences with them. Not only do they go above and beyond for many customers but they also have a fantastic range of cushions and Jon seems to be able to track the good ones down.

There are a few other PS vendors who are great with cushions too but I don''t have experience with any of them so will leave others to comment.

GoG are definitely on my bookmark list. They had some fantastic articles regarding Cushion stones. Thank you for your input!

Actually, the OP's example cushion looks a lot more crushed-ice to me that GOG's trademark chunkies. I'd go to BGD for one of his brilliant cushions.

Brian Gavin Diamonds is starting to get some nice cushions cut. I would trust them 100% to pick out a beauty for you. Brian and Lesley are extra nice people to work with and will make your experience very positive.
