"Brilliance is largely an illusion created because each eye sees a diamond from a different direction, creating brain conflict when a facet is dark for one eye and bright for the other. This breakthrough led the Cut Group to study human vision and many optical illusions in viewing diamonds."
There are some examples in the article and if you make the two image centers to about 5-6cm (2 inches) apart and with your nose on the screen or printout - move away until you see a 3rd image in 3D floating in the middle (like the floating sausage) - you can see the effects represented. You will note that the diamonds and the blinking squares example take on a shiny metalic / glassy luster that can never be seen in any 2D images.
Of course if you have a 3D TV you can access from your computer, then you will really get it.
