Well, that it. I am going to play that music during my L&D and hope the whole thing takes one minute, just like in the video.

Thanks Nicrez...that was actually quite cool.

my sister-in-law is expecting, so she sent it to me. I just had to share, because it explained a lot...

Interesting! I sent it to FH, and his reply?

"Yikes. Good luck with that!"

I was gonna play that song during our wedding ceremony.

ETA: You know, they should really include the poop thing. That's something that women deserve fair warning about. Oh, and afterbirth.

oww oww oww oww OWWWWW!!!

Ok.. not to be icky or anything... but you cant just make a statement like that saying women should know.. and then NOT tell us.. LOL.

I was thoroughly freaked out by that little animation.. but now I''m obsessing over the above comment.. what does that mean?

Help a woman out, especially a woman who has baby on the brain.. maybe you can talk me down from my baby ledge!!!!!

During the process of childbirth, due to the muscle contractions, pressure of the baby and etc, many women (but not all) will defecate. The L&D staff are used to this and will not blink an eyelid. That said, some women will get the runs prior to labour and thus their systems are already cleaned out beforehand.

Thanks for the heads up Chrono.. yeah.. that is definitely something they DONT tell you.. sheesh!

Jaders: Don''t worry about it. I was horrified about the poo thing until it happened to me. What can you do? Its just a natural part of the birthing process. No one makes you feel bad about it, and trust me, they''ve seen it before. And they whisk it away and flush it (there''s a toilet in your room ) before you even know what''s happened, so its not a biggie. **hugs** And I know you hear this & can''t believe how it could be true, but when you are pushing a baby out, really, you are a little preoccupied at the moment and really *DONT CARE* about much else other than getting baby out. Its powerful, amazing, and its your BABY...all that eclipses all the little stuff we obsess over when we haven''t had a kid yet. What seems disgusting to a birth virgin is nothing to a mom. Happens to the best of us.

if ya really want too be scared and amazed do a google search for "natural childbirth video"
(now ya is gonna ask how i know what too search for... well someone asked how to find a vid one day,,,,, wished id never searched LOL)

That is cool. The last thing I am worried about is pooping on the table. I figure they have seem it ALL. Nope, I have other worries and fears but that is not one of them. Anyone ever realize how small 10 cm really is?
32.gif
They have a 10 cm circle in my birthing book and DH and I were STILL trying to figure out how the baby comes out. Guess we''ll know soon enough

I hate to tell you ladies who are expecting your first babies, childbirth is the EASY part, LOL!

You know, with the first baby, you just don''t know what to expect -- everyone''s bodies and birth canals are different. One of my friends, who was about 98 pounds soaking wet with her clothes on, said it wasn''t bad at all, just like bad menstrual cramps. Another friend, a big gal who looks like she could just squirt ''em out on an assembly line, said it was horrible and the worst pain in the world. For me it was worse with the first baby, I think because the doctor stripped my membranes to augment labor (that was ultimately less than 8 hours from start to finish). With the second one I had a homebirth in a tub and it was actually FUN! Well, not the last hour, but up until then, and even then it wasn''t unbearable. Everyone has different experiences and it''s best not to get too upset about what you see or whatever horror stories others tell you.

Hmmm...i was totally up for that kind of delivery. Alas, my son needed a window. I wasn''t prepared for a c-section! but, at ten and a half pounds, I''m glad he didn''t use the front door!!

HA! You are so right! My older one was just under 7 pounds and everything went back to normal size very quickly without much effort. My younger one was almost 9 pounds, and 2 pounds makes a big difference. If I don''t kegel all the time, things get droopy, and I''m not talking about my boobs (which are decidedly less perky after 2 pregnancies and nursing for 5 years). You ladies who are pregnant and planning a vaginal birth, LEARN TO DO YOUR KEGELS! They may or may not tell you about what might happen if you don''t, so there ya go.

I have a cousin who has had two children. The first was 10lbs 10oz, the second was 9lbs 14 oz! She says it will never be the same...

With my kegels, i go up ten floors. (the stopping places during the kegels.) She says she can barely get on the third!
33.gif

I heard that''s one reason a lot of women are opting for C-Sections.

Gee, maybe kegels should be included in the WWT.

yeah, that''s why I don''t know! every time I say the word "excercise", I wash my mouth out with chocolate!!

The only way I''m running is when someone''s chasing me. That''s only if he''s got a weapon and I don''t think I can take him. Then, I''m only running for a place to hide cause I''m no good on endurance!!

My book compared 10 cm to the opening of a jar of mayo. DH and I were in shock when we realized that. Baby''s head...10 cm....hmmmm.....Can I get my epidural NOW?!?

Epidurals are for WIMPS!!!

I''m so kidding! I would have died the first time without one. It felt like I had a jackhammer in my pelvis! Ladies, especially if they give you pitocin or augment your labor by stripping your membranes or breaking your water, make friends with the anesthesiologist as soon as you can!

Lumpkin, I don''t mind being called a wimp....

Wow, that is amazing.

I appreciate your honesty about epidurals, Lumpkin: "I would have died the first time without one."
I think women in labor deserve all the respect and drugs in the world!

Doesn''t make me feel better about all of the babies in hubby 2 be''s family are 10lbs plus, though. Haven''t quite figured that one out. A friend told me about her episiotomy (did I spell that correctly?) and I almost fainted...

lumpkin,I could not agree wtih you more! I have 4 kids- no c-sections and you are so right. Gving birth is nothing compared to raising them!

edited to add, I was so scared of pooping on the table with my first, I did not eat for 2 days before I went into labor. And then I almost passed out while giving birth. I stopped eating when my doctor told me it would happen soon. Stupid, don't do that!

With my 2, 3rd, and 4th, I just ate normally and to this day I have NO idea if I did not didn't. I never asked, did not want to know. I told my husband, don't tell me either way LOL. If I did, they were discreet about it because I really have no clue.

I met a friend during my second pregnancy who is a labor and delivery nurse. She told me don't even waste a second worrying about it. She said its expected and nothing to be embarrased about.

I still don't want to know LOL.
