Hi all. Please let me know if I should be posting in a different area (but I think this is the right one) I have attached a picture of a ring that I''d like recreated. Its actually a picture I found in the Celebrity E-rings section! I''ve contacted a few vendors that other PS''ers have used and am patiently waiting :) But, I have a lot of questions for you guys:

- What size center diamond & surrounding 6 diamonds do you think would look best? (I was thinking center ranging from .30-.50, surrounding stones .10 each?)
- Do you think it would look better in all Platinum instead of the Platinum & gold combo or do you like it as is?
-I was told that the sapphires listed are French cut & no longer made. One vendor said they would use sapphire pricess cuts. Do you think that would look ok?

Thanks!

Jenn- that is lovely!! And princess sapphires would look fine, as would all white metal. I hope you''re considering vintage cut diamond too? I think you could even go with a .25-.30 center and it would look nice. Please keep us updated on your progress. I love my vintage (and repro) pieces, so I''ll be watching!!!

Sapphire can still be cut into French cut style if you want it. The diamond size of under 1/2 carat to 1/3ct is probably right for the center.
All white or two-tone is up to you. Many of these are found with platinum plates to set the diamonds and the balance of the ring is gold, even white gold sometimes. In a reproduction, all platinum or all white gold would be what you'd be able to make today. The small diamonds are well beow .10ct each in most of these rings. The way they are set makes them look larger, but there is lots of metal showing between the stones most of the time. .02ct to .04ct is more common. The ones in this particular ring look like about .07 to .10 however, and they do seem larger than usual in this case.

Thanks Upgradable! I just got a quote from Ari at Singlestone and I think I''ll be going with him! I''ve decided with a .30 cener and just asked him what he''d use for the surrounding stones-- all definately OEC''s. He has french cut sapphires as well! I''m so excited about this project. I will be posting updates as I get them.

Hi!I love the ring you posted and I adore Singlestone''s work. You can''t go wrong with them.

Not sure if you''re looking for an engagement ring but this one is very unique as well and kind of a similar look.

Thanks for the link! I love that site.. I actually purchased a vintage ring from Leigh a few years back (which I have since sold).

Ari will do you right!! He has such a sense, and creates a beautiful piece. I can''t wait to see the outcome!!!

I believe you are right. He sent me 3 examples for the gallery. Which do you prefer?
(I have to post the other gallery shot in a separate post..)

gallery example #2:

#1 will obviously sit up higher & the #2 will be much lower. I still can''t decide whether I should do all Plat or do the 18 kt yellow gold band... help!
I thought that the yellow gold band gave it some warmth... but I know that I won''t wear a gold band with it.. it''ll be platinum & there''s the whole wearing/rubbing factor with gold... but I could get a band soldered to the ring..? Opinions?

I''d choose the first gallery options, and if it were for me, I''d go two-toned, but I like that look. It really is your personal preference.

Totally agree with you, I picked the 1st gallery & am really leaning towards the 2 toned. I can''t wait to show you guys! Thanks for the advice.
