Hello. I have another ruby ring set in sterling silver. It is a very large ruby. I don't know anything about rubies, and I'm hoping someone can offer some information as to type, value, etc. Thanks!
The colour on this looks like a Garnet.
With this and your other posts, synthetic Corundum and natural Corundum (Sapphire/Ruby) will both test as Corundum with a basic gem testing pen and refractometer as they are the same material. A reason why good Amethyst is getting hard to determine due to the amount of synthetic Quartz in the market place.
Synthetic Sapphire/Ruby has been going since the late 1800's, and has only got better with time.
They needed to be tested and checked visually by a qualified gemologist or gem lab.
The odd shaped one in your other post definitely looks synthetic to me.
