Can anyone who has worked with Victor on a setting comment on the pros and cons of obtaining a diamond from him vs. from outside? Is he able to offer any advantages, or is it better to choose from a wider selection? Thanks!
Victor made a setting for me twice, but I have not sourced stones through him yet. Victor is a perfectionist and I would gladly source a stone through him. I read here on Pricescope that he offers a discount if you source the stone as well as the setting through him, but you would have to verify that. His stones look amazing.
Do you know what setting you would like to have from Victor Canera?
You will typically get the best value by sourcing from someone who owns their own inventory. If he has a stone you like, I would inquire as to whether he owns it. If he's sourcing third party, there is a convenience factor in one-stop-shopping. You just have to decide whether the added margin is worth it to you. For me, I try at all costs to avoid intermediaries.
I sourced my stone through Victor, granted I found it on BN first as an AGS 000 and he sent me IS/ASET images once he received it, confirming performance. His inventory isn't as expansive as other vendors and he tends to specialize in higher color stones, so his source service is a nice way to fill in the gaps if there's nothing in your price range. That said, he's set tons of stones from BG, WF, etc. so I don't think you can go wrong either way.
