huh?

I can''t even type due to be so upset and aggravated!!!!----- My dream Emerald cut diamond was ready for pick-up this afternoon.--- I traveled quite a distance so to pick it up.--- The diamond was set crooked, on one side, in the setting. Plus the basket, the lack of better word, was not in the direct middle of the the ring. I did not accept it and the seller agreed with me about the mistakes and the ring is being sent back for correction. She said that it was just a busy time of year and the jewerier have been very busy. Plus it was set straight in the setting from the top.
I wish I had just bought the diamond from them and taken it to another business that had the setting that I like better. I guess It is too late as the ring is paid in full.

That stinks, so sorry. Just keep at them until it''s done right. Wonder why you had to pay in full??

Yes! I agree.... my ring situation stinks!---I paid 1/2 of the ring when I bought the diamond. Then I gave them the rest when I picked up the ring tonight. While I was given the diamond ring the once over, I found the problems.

I do have a receipt.-- thanks for your 2 cents!

shouldn''t they return the 2nd half until you are satisifed with the ring? if a check, i''d certainly cancel it and if it was on a credit card, i''d put in a dispute right away.

I''m so sorry!! The jeweler should never have let you see the ring in that condition!

I''m sure it will be done correctly this time. If not, I would definitely demand a refund and go elsewhere.

Let us know who the jeweler is, in case someone is thinking of dealing with them - you could save someone the trouble.

Hope your situation get resolved, I think you should ask for at least 5% discount and/or dispute second half of the payment.

As soon as you and the jeweler noticed faults, the jeweler should have cancelled your 2nd payment. It should not be paid until the ring is fixed to your satisfaction. I feel for you as you are the one inconvenienced with a delay and yet another long journey to collect. Whether it is the busy season or not is no excuse, quality should not suffer. Make sure the jeweler is clear on what is wrong with the setting. Also, ask him to check the ring himself when it arrives back and to make sure that he is totally satisfied with the quality before calling you out to collect. Really, he should have checked it before you picked it up, it might have saved you a journey. Give them a second chance, but insist that if it is not right the second time, then you want your money back.

Thanks all for your advise and concern!--- I can''t seem to go to sleep because of the situation.I''ve got a headache also.- I''ve got to get up and go to work tomorrow, bright and early.- I have just left a message on the company''s answering machine, requesting them to phone me before they take the ring back to their jeweler to make the correction. I will remind them of the diamond not being correctly centered and also the prongs/ Head not being in the center of the ring.-- I might just buy the diamond and ask for the reminder of my money back from the setting. I have seen a setting that I like better @ another store.--- This situation is a kick in the pants for me!--- The money for my ring was from a settlement from a permanet injury.

Please don''t get too upset about it. It shouldn''t have happened, but now it has, try and think positively. Definitely speak to the jeweler and let him know that you have had time to think about the situation and you have lost confidence in the jeweler doing a good job and would therefore like your money back. If they insist on trying to put it right, I would give them the chance, but make it clear that it is on the basis that if you are unhappy with the quality the second time round, then you want your money back, period.

Good luck and please don''t let this ruin your holiday season. One way or another you will get this sorted out.

-- Thanks!--- Your post helps!!! Here it is, a few hours later. My mind is clearer..---I plan to buy the diamond but not the ring. I want my money back for it.

Now, if the company will be co-operative. I am thankful that I have read so much on this site that educated my mind and eye.

Good News!!!!!!!!---- The business, where I bought my diamond ring, finally phoned me back. I told him that I disliked the setting but liked the diamond. So I have bought the loose diamond and will receive a money return, as the ring is paid in full. I will pick up the diamond and refund after the New Year holiday.--- I have done more research and found the ring that I like made by Mercury ring company. Several stores in my area carry their rings.

For them to say that this happened because they were ''busy'' is completely unacceptable!

Please tell us who this company was....so we can avoid them!

-- It''s a local place here.

MrsgGardener, Congratulations, I''m so glad you have resolution to your problem and you have managed to buy the diamond without the setting. I''m glad the jeweller was accommodating, without being awkward. It makes a huge difference. We''d definitely love to see the new setting and some pictures of your ring once it''s made up. Congratulations,

Thanks Mimi for your words of encouragement! I''m still waiting for the phone call to go get my loose diamond and refund. I know that they needed to go out of town on family business. I am concerned because the business'' message on my answering machine told that I need to phone back so to make arrangements to pick-up the other

diamond. If that is the case, I want a complete refund!

Don''t worry too much mrsgardener, I''m sure it was just a wrong choice of wording on the answerphone. I''m sure they''ve kept your diamond for you. Can''t wait to see pics.

was there another diamond you looked at?

yes-- a .65 loose diamond. I decided to buy the .70 because it was a better grade and also had more of a sparkle. A buying diamond adventure was suppose to be fun! Thi situation has become a pain in my side!

oh so they may want to leave the better stone in the mounting?

If they want to pull a switch on you diamond a full refund, threaten to call BBB, and start looking for a diamond from one of the vendors here.
