Verragio premium price to accomidate a 1.5C stone

Just curious if others have experienced the same thing and if this is typical for Verragio.

I was asked to pay a $600 premium to accomidate my centre stone of 1.5C as Verragio quotes all prices based on a 1C centre stone. The ring will still contain the same amount of diamonds and they will remain the same size, including the halo. In fact the only thing they change is the halo as technically it is a separate piece. So it sounds like I'm paying more for them to have them to use one of their many halo molds to space out the diamonds a little more in the halo to fit the 1.5C centre.

I'll a litte confused on this significant premium since the ring is already quite expensive. Anybody else deal with this.

I find it absurb, especially since the halo diamonds don't increase at all in size.

You can call some other Verragio dealers to get price quotes.

Not unusual for there to be an upcharge for stones larger than 1-1.2 ct or so. I wouldn't personally pay the Verragio price tag to begin with, so I'm no help on whether $600 for the design changes you've mentioned seems "reasonable" in Verragio world.

Does she have to have the Verragio?

I don't have a problem with brand name settings in general at all. But for the quality Verragio is insanely priced. I've got a couple Verragio dealers near me and I gotta say, their settings look SO much nicer on the web than they do in real life (usually it's the other way around in my experience) and I just don't think it's worth what you get with Verragio to go for their settings unless your lady is in love with a ring she's actually seen and tried on by them.

My two dilemmas are she loves the verragio ring and there is only on dealer within 3 hours of our 5M populated city!?!

I guess they figure if you're dumb enough to pay the premium for the name, you're ok with forking out some more. That being said the detail in the ring is nice and appears to be better than a few of the custom autoCads I had done.

Most of the Verragio sample settings are set with a 1.25ct center. My local jeweler was going to set a 1.5ct stone in the same setting until he realized he had to size it down to 4.25, which couldn't be done due to the number of side stones in the setting. He didn't give me a quote until he placed the custom order and got the correct pricing from Verragio, but it ended up very similar to the pricing on whiteflash.

Even so, the $1000 premium for platinum vs 18k wg is ridiculous, especially for a ring that has so little metal, but my finance insisted on getting platinum. Oh well, anything to keep him happy.

Make sure you see it in person before you decided on Verragio. Like Gypsy said, their pictures do look better than in real life. I still love my setting though. I don't have the ring yet, but I visit the jeweler quite often even though they are an hour away. :)

Please post the setting you are looking at. I bet Gabriel & Co. makes something similar and you won't pay that ridiculous up-charge, Plus, I think Gabriel is an excellent quality and value.

I think it does look nice in person, dainty as it's for a 4.25 ring size.

I was quoted $900 for the platinum. But did you have to pay more for the 1.5C on top of that? CUrious if it's Verragio policy or the jeweler making the margin here.

I like that cushion halo! Not sure if more diamonds are required for a larger center with that cushion halo.

My final quote was $1000 more than the quote for the stock 18k gold setting. I choose the Insigina 7033 with a round halo.

I think your best bet is to call for quotes from other Verragio dealers.

This Gabriel and Co is similar. I couldn't find a big picture of the profile, but it has a similar swirly design but much less ornate than the Verragio. Style #ER7525W44JJ

thanks for this but she is a super fan of the ornate style. The jeweler did eat some of the cost for me to make me happy, but crazy that the Verragio policy was not clear even to their premium level authorized retailer.

Now time to get fleeced for wedding costs :loopy:

PS she's worth it

I agree. I was very interested in a Verragio based on online pictures until I saw one in real life. Was very disappointed for the price. I ended up going with Tacori, but would go with BGD if my FF didn't fall in love with the Tacori design.
