Hi,

I have been looking at Isee2 diamonds. I read from the forum that they have special Isee2 inscription on the table that is so small that an average consumer like myself won''t have to tool to see.

Do you know if I can just walk into any local jewelry shop that carries Isee2 and ask them to use their specialized Isee2 viewer to verify the inscription? I wonder if they''d help you since you are not buying from them.

Also, the diamond is already set. Can the Isee2 inscription viewer take the diamond WITH the setting together? Or it must be removed from the setting before the it can be placed in the machine.

Any other suggestion to verifying the diamond?

I understand that you can view the H&A pattern, but to an non-expert, it''s not that easy to tell the difference of one H&A pattern from another within an reasonable amount of time. Also, when the diamond is set, I don''t think i can view the Hearts pattern (from the bottom), but only the arrows (from the top).

Thanks.

Hi bschai,

I own one, and can''t answer about walking in a place that sells them to verify. IF there is anyone around here who sells them, they are at least an hour away. I just took mine to an appraiser to verify upon receiving it.

I know they put the logo in a corner, I suppose a prong could end up covering some, if not all of it up. I''d ask the place where you got it about viewing it after being set.

I was going to suggest you have the ID# lasered on, but I guess that''s out now since it''s set. Other than that, just really get to know your stone. One thing to remember too, there aren''t a whole lot of people walking around with this well cut of a stone in their ring.

Lit from the correct angle and with a high power magnifier, I have been able to see an ISEE2 surface inscription. I sure could not read it with a 10x loupe. It is tiny and faint.

Hi,

I could be buying from GOG. But still considering.

But when I receive it, it will be set.

I am contemplating asking to have the GIA cert number inscribed on the girdle. You think that would have any implication? Or should I ask for inscribing the Isee2 ID #?

Also, I have come across this pocket gemex Identiviewer http://www.gemex.com/htmdocs/consumer/identiviewer.html . Will this help seeing the Isee inscription?

Any affordable high power magnifier that you'd recommend to do the job? 30x?

Thanks.

I do sell a 30x loupe, but you need proper lighting to see an ISEE2 inscription with any magnifier. I don''t think you can see it with a hand held magnifier unless you have experience with this technique. Any little girdle engraving is useful for re-identifying a diamond. A 10x magnifier works fine with girdle inscription unless the girlde is quite thin forcing the inscription to be very small.

Thanks Dave.

I will check out your site. But I wonder if my hand is that steady with a loupe.

Perhaps I should invest in a 50x or 100x microscope, that should also work right?

For girdle inscription, does it matter where it is done?

Thanks.

My boyfriend just purchased my diamond and setting from GOG today. My diamond has no GIA number inscribed in the girdle. The only indication that it is my diamond is the Isee2 number on the table facet. So I asked them to inscribe the GIA number and Isee2 number on the girdle, which they will do for free. They are only able to do this on Mondays though so plan accordingly. Since Monday is Labor day, they are sending my diamond to Vatche first to have it set and will do the laser inscription after it is mounted. I''m so excited, I can''t wait to receive it!

Sappergirl,

Congratulations! It must be a nice one!

Good to hear that I am not the only one having this concern :P

Maybe I''ll do something similar regarding the inscription.

Do you know where they will get is inscribed? I supposed it doesn''t matter does it?

I didn''t ask them, but I''m pretty sure they do it in house. You can give them a call and find out if you really want to know.

Ok, now I understand. Initially I thought you were just looking, but later in your post you said, "Also, the diamond is already set". Now I know you were speaking in terms of after you receive it.

If you get the girdle lasered, you should be fine with a good loupe.

Can''t wait to see your ring!

sappergirl, please post yours too!

Ellen,

Sorry for the confusion. I am considering to buy. But if I were to buy, I would buy Isee2 together with the setting at the same shop. So i want to figure out a way to verify.

BTW, what do you think of your Isee2? I heard that it comes with some nice extra brochure and certificate right?

Thanks.

That would make it easy! (what I did too)

What do I think of it? How long do you have??

I think it''s stunning. It is so well cut, and honestly, I can''t find a lighting situation where it even begins to look bad. And it''s still full of surprises. After a year and a half, it can still show new "looks" in new lighting situations. Amazing.

That''s a long winded way of saying I love it!
