Went window shopping with my girlfriend the other day, and we came across this lovely silver piece at Tiffs. It looked like a length of grey fabric from a distance, but was actually very fine silver mesh. It was weighty, but felt soft, and moved like fabric because it was so fine. It was worn around the neck as a small scarf, tied lightly in a simple knot at the front or back.
It was about 5cm wide and 40cm long. Upon close examination, each silver link was linked to every other adjacent link (forget the arrangement, maybe hexagonal, or square grid). Unfortunately, they don't have this piece in anything but sterling silver.
I'm wondering whether a similar piece can be done in platinum? Each link would have to be very small, <2mm long, 1-2mm wide, (actual thickness of link would be around 0.25-0.5mm) and be able to flow like fabric.
I'm very interested in having this made
