So the stones for my wifes three-stone ring are a done deal, now I need to figure out the setting. GOG sent me pics of Vatche''s truffle, but it looks like the X-Prong to me. I don''t see Truffle listed on Vatche''s site, and figured I''d ask you guys what your thoughts were. I know they''re busy over there and figured this would be good discussion for the board.

After that''s settled the next question becomes which band to put with the ring? My wife is the easiest person in the world to please, so I feel confident that I/we can handle this on our own. Her current band has small diamonds set in it, but not pave. I think the biggest question I really have about the band is what people think about mixing a band that wasn''t designed to fit a particular e-ring. Good, bad, indifferent? Assuming X-prong and Truffle are the same, I don''t care for the matching band and Sarah at GOG feel the same. I like Vatche''s Cotillion have pave band, but don''t know if it''ll look like crap next to the other ring.

Here''s the Truffle pic GOG sent me.

I don''t know if they are the same thing or not, I''d ask GOG, they don''t mind questions.

And can you post a pic of the band you''re thinking about?

I can''t seem to save the pic, but here''s a link to their site: http://www.dvatche.com/weddingbands.html

It''s under Collections>Bridal Sets & Bands, and it''s # 22 of 39, or style #237.

I''m also thinking of looking into Precision Set. I researched them a while back, but can''t find a side-view picture of what they have online. Here''s what I''m looking at from them. I know the band is a completely different style than the Vatche, but it''ll sit flush. I would imagine the stones will sit higher because of the design, so I guess I''d really like to see the side view before I jumped in.

Hard to say from the one view of the Vatche band. I like Vatche, I own one, but I must say I really like a lot of the Precision Set settings. Why don''t you email them and see if they can send you some different views of that one you posted. Worth a try.

Yep, just sent them an email asking for side pics.

Do you wear an e-ring and band next to each other that aren''t matching? Any pics?

I''m pretty sure Truffle is X-Prong styled, but only refers to the 3 and 5 stone rings.

Yikes! That''s a smoker of a stone you have there! Do you mind telling me the size and specs? I hope my wifes looks half as good as yours.

Very nice. I was mainly interested in the size and color.

Precision Set replied saying they can''t help me out with pics and that I have to contact a reseller. I don''t think GOG is an actual reseller, so I''m not sure if they''ll be able to get me what I need.

You''d think if someone is looking to buy something from you (especially these days) that you''d be able to get them the info they need. I went with GOG because they''re friendly and have soooo much information available for the stones I''m looking for.

lol When some say specs, they mean ALL the specs. So this way I'm covered.

I agree, pics should be a no brainer, they would be if I ran the company anyway. I was looking at GOG's gallery for someone else recently, and noticed that while GOG doesn't list PS as a line they carry, they had a few of their settings. I wondered at the time if they actually do carry them. I'd ask, it can't hurt.

I ended up going with the Precision Set show above in this thread. I had the option of getting a band with stones all the way around or half-way and went with the half-way because of cost and also thinking the bottom side of the ring may end up getting damaged if she's handling something while wearing the ring.

BTW - Precison Set isn't cheap! At least by my standards anyway.

I'll post pics when it's all said and done.

Congrats on your decision! I am sure your ring will be beautiful!

In case it helps anyone else, I asked my jeweler the same thing when I was buying the X prong. I was told that the Truffle refers to the 3 and 5 stone settings, but the X prong is the name for the solitaire.

I think that''s fine you went with the half band. And no, they''re not cheap, but you''re going to get a very well made, beautiful set!

I look forward to your pics, we don''t see a lot of the PS''s, and they really are nice looking. I''m sure it will help posters in the future.

btw, does GOG carry them?

Yes, GOG caries them, just not sure why they don''t list them on their site, and I don''t think PS has them listed on their site either. Must be some business thing.

So I have to say I''m starting to get a little bit of buyers remorse though, or really just hoping my wife will like what I picked out, the $ isn''t the issue. I''m hoping the PS doesn''t look too bulky or thick in height, know what I mean? I look at my wifes current wedding band and the edge is rounded, and the PS is taller and flat. I like it because it seems really well made and not too flimsy. I keep picturing those candy rings that kids wear and how high they are.

I keep telling myself I''m just beating myself up over nothing.

Well, let me ask you, did you, or she pick the first set out?

And, if you are that concerned, do you have time to have the set sent to you so you can see it in person? Be aware though, the magnified pics REALLY do magnify things, to outlandish proportions at times. Seriously, nothing is ever anywhere near as big, bulky, etc., in real life, as it is in the pics.

And thanks for the info on GOG!

Haha, the first "set". I''m laughing because the I spent more on just the PS e-ring setting today than her original e-ring/stone, wedding band, my band, and our apartment combined! No joke.

We were sooo young back then and didn''t have a tissue to blow our nose in, so we picked out what we could afford which wasn''t much.

I just spent a few minutes looking at different pics of Precison Set rings here and feel much better. I think you''re right about things not looking quite so large in person. And I''m sure if they were obnoxiously large then nobody would buy them.

Hey, don''t feel bad, we were in the same boat when we got married.

The only reason I asked, is because if she had picked the ring out, you might have had a wee reason to be slightly apprehensive. But since you did, it''s not like she had a real preference.

If she is anything like me, when she sees the new set, she''ll be over the moon.
