Hello all
I have been lurking on this site for the last couple of months and decided it was about time I contributed a little something myself.
I am in the process of having my lovely 0.83 ct, IF, F color, EX/EX diamond re-mounted into a new setting. My lovely husband and I have been married for just over a year. We purchased the diamond from ''Bluenile''and had the setting custom made at that time. From day one I just did not like my super plain, V-prong plat. setting. That is another story I will spare you all from.
I have been searching for the perfect setting for about 3months now. To be honest I was ready to order the legato ''sleek line'' from WF but my husband expressed some concern over having to send my diamond to them. I must admit I would have been really worried in case it got lost in transit. WF would not sell us the setting without the diamond mounted. So this coupled with the fact that I am very particular, wanting the perfect setting and my husband thought I was mad to order something this expensive without having seen it first!!!). So after absolutely ages of hunting I FINALLY decided on a Vatche setting called The Caroline - with no pave on the shoulders.

I live in Washington DC and my nearest Vatche vendor in Charleston Alexander in Bethesda, MD. They ordered a demo model for me to look at and it arrived within 2 days. Unfortunately they could only send the version with pave on the shoulders of the setting but it gave me a good idea of the style of the setting and how it would fit with my memoire, dual prong half eternity wedding band. It fit perfectly!!! It is a lovely setting and I will post some pictures for you all to see once I have it on my little finger. I gave Charleston Alexander my current setting yesterday and they are going to unmount my diamond and send it to Vatche today. It should be ready Thursday/Friday next week said Vatche as they have the setting ready to go - so exciting!!!
Vatche have been great I have to admit. When i saw the demo ring two things bothered me
1. The diamond was set a bit too low for me. I want to be able to see the culet clearly and for there so be a tiny space underneath visible.
2. The prong tips on the demo where claw-like, I prefer more rounded tips on the prongs
I emailed Vatche and a gentleman called Chris promtly emailed me back. I told him of my concerns and he said they could mount the diamond a little higher for me and round of the prong tips no problem.
- making me a happy little chappie!!
To date I only have 2 gripes:
1. In addition to the demo setting being the pave type Caroline and not the plain one, the demo model I was told by the lady at C. Alexanders was silver (am I the only one who thinks this strange?). This meant I was not able to get the feel of the platinum setting or see the polish finish - I was definitely disappointed but took the plunge anyway and ''went for it''.
2. Regarding the warrenty from Vatche. Vatche do a life time warrently on their setting but having read through that warrently it states clearly if you have a vendor set your stone - and not Vatche themselves - the warrently is void. I directly asked Chris at Vatche about this, asking if I have C. Alexanders set my diamond will this void the warrenty - here is his reply
"Dear Claire
I have attached our lifetime warranty as you requested, also please note that Vatche feels very strongly about his reputation and his workmanship and always believes that the customer should always be happy and remain happy when purchasing the Vatche brand so rest assured that we will honor the warranty regardless.
Best regards,
Chris
This is all well and good but I wonder what would happen in the future if I needed Vatche to fix something about my setting. I think it best to just get Vatche to set and resize your setting and save any heartache down the line.
So anyway this entry is getting way to long so time to wrap things up........
I searched Pricescope for the Vatche Caroline setting but no-one seems to have it. If anybody out there does have it can you post some pictures if it for me.....if for no other reason to keep me going with some eye candy until end of next week!!
Thank all and thank Pricescope for a great forum
