hi, i''ve new to the forum but have been reading everyone''s wonderfully helpful posts. this a great place to learn about rings and diamonds. i''ve gone from a total novice to at least knowing something about the 4C''s. just wanted to say wow and thanks to everyone who has posted so far :)

so i am here at pricescope b/c i am looking for an engagement ring. i''m pretty set on the vatche 3 stone truffle / trellis. i was suprised that i like the 3 stone as i was thinking of solitaire b/c i have size 4.25 but like others have posted - you can spend lots of time looking at pictures on the internet but you really need to go into a B&M and try on lots of styles to get a good sense of what things look like.

anyway, i digress - the b&m jeweler i went to is i think a reputable one but i was wondering if anyone has an idea of what the price range for this setting should be.

i saw online that it was going for ~ $1,4500 but the b&m quoted me ~$1,700. not sure too if even tho the b&m is quoting something a bit higher whether it is better to have an actual person to talk to face-to-face, do the sizing, etc. also, i checked the recommended websites - joseph allen, good old gold, and whiteflash but didn''t see this particular vatche style on their sites - i may have somehow overlooked it or is the style not being sold at many places anymore? i''d just like to be able to compare several different places or should i jump on the b&m one?

thanks!

several pricescope vendors carry vatche so it''s easy enough to get a quote.
Winfields, Goodoldgold, engagementringsdirect are all dealers. That said, I do believe that is nice to build a relationship with a local jeweler for cleanings, routine prong checks etc, so buying the setting from them might be worth the $.

problem in posting some advice...strange. I have emailed the Pricescope Admin. He may put my message here when he gets to it.

thanks mrssalvo! i think you make some good points about building a relationship with a local jeweler. i think they did a great job helping me - esp a very indecisive me. thanks also for the list of online places to look.
