I have an antique engagement ring that I''m wanting to sell. It was bought my my ex-mother-in-law at an antique shop in New Orleans and I really love the ring and used it as a right hand ring. However, it doesn''t really have any sentimental value to me and I could use the money.

My local jeweler cleaned the ring and did a minor repair for me. They told me it was worth about $2500, but I think that''s a bit high. I know the diamond has some minor damage (not visible to the naked eye). I don''t know the specs on it, except that it is an old mine cut and .75 carat.

The ring is white gold and has a few small side diamonds.

I can''t seem to get a good photo, but I''ve included the poor ones I have.

Someone offered me $700. Is that giving it away? What might be reasonable for a private party sale?

Can''t really tell much from those pictures, except that the center stone is quite warm.

In my experience buying and selling vintage stones, warm stone with some damage, you can expect about $10 per point. So... about $750.

Thank you for the input. Maybe my $700 offer is reasonable.

I will try to get more photos. The center stone doesn''t seem very warm in person and I wish I could get a more accurate representation of the ring.
