Hi,
I got my engagement ring (a lovely Octavia Asscher) a couple of years ago in the US (from GOG) and have recently been asked by my insurers in the UK (Regal) for a £ valuation certificate. I have the original one from GOG and the AGS certificate, but need a UK one. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations of where to go in London. I've googled and found that Safeguard has roving valuers who come to jewellers around the country. The last thread I could find on that was from 2007, and that they charge differently depending on the value of the item (fair enough based on the complexity, but surely it involves the same amount of work to value a 1ct J diamond and a 2ct F...). Will the valuer do the evaluation from scratch or use the AGS certificate as part of the valuation? I also have my own macro photos of the ring.
Anyway, if anyone has any recommendations that would be great. I'd also love an idea of cost too. I don't want a fancy laminated pack; just a basic valuation to satisfy the insurer (and of course cover me if I have to ever replace it - God forbid!).
Thanks, Sophie
