So it's 8 days till Valentine's Day - what do you have planned?

We were hoping to go out to dinner, but it's just not feeling safe enough to dine inside at restaurants here in Boston, so that's been scrubbed.

On the other hand, we have KILLER romantic gifts for each other....

We're exchanging Smeg small kitchen appliances! Wooo HOOOO! DH is giving me a KETTLE and I'm giving him a TOASTER!!

Hmmmm.

Ok, so I'm kidding about the romantic part - we've been married for 36 years now and we're shooting for coffee and toast rather than romance at this point in our lives. And the older I get, the more willing I am to trade a good cup of coffee for any romantic gestures. Actually, making me a cup of coffee probably IS my favorite romantic gesture!

So how about you? What do you have planned? Flowers? Evening out? Jewelry?? And what are you giving your SO next Sunday? Share with us here!

I also love Hermes accessories and I got this Mini Dog bracelet as well..

My DH loves pasta so I'll be cooking him spaghetti with heart shaped meatballs and heart shaped Starbucks vanilla bean scones dupes.

This all sounds just perfect, @xsouzie!

DH went to Target to get my DD some toys because she just went thru a surgery that day and DH felt guilty that he left the plushie that hospital gave her while they were distracted cleaning her vomit. When he came home he said: “its your valentines gift”, he gave me a small Gorilla plushie that have a heart and said “love”. :lol-2::lol-2: Its not expensive, he’s not romantic/giving grand gesture but it put a smile on my face:lol:

I love that color so much!!!

It’s tradition for me to cook instead of eating out and I usually make cordon bleu but this year I think i’ll just make heart shaped pizzas.

We don't really give each other gifts, but I got DH an early Valentine's gift of a bunch of his favorite socks from Darn Tough. They're made in Vermont, and I'm happy to be able to support small American manufacturing, while also making his feet happy. :)

We don't really do Valentine's day. The first year we were together I attempted to do a traditional or normal Valentine's day and what I received as gifts were items of the personal care nature/household that I never really had at my house but he felt I needed. I received Band-Aids, Neosporin, Tums, and scotch tape.

After the first year, we really just dispensed with the Valentine's day!

That is a win-win as you’ll have access to that fantastic blow dryer! I have the dryer and love it. :P2

We are doing exactly what we have been doing every day and night since the pandemic and quarantine. If we can we are going to do something outside be it walking or cycling or hiking. If the weather is inclement we will play cards or a board game indoors.

And then we are going to come home (if we spent the day outside) and feed the kitties and make a romantic dinner for two. Rather, Greg will cook a nice dinner for two and I will prepare the salad. My speciality. :)

And then perhaps we will watch a movie on cable.
Very exciting. But I like it.

Honestly, for me, Valentine's Day isn't any more special than any day of the year. I am at the stage of my life I genuinely appreciate and value each moment I have with my DH. Each day is one I cherish being with him. Sorry that sounds so sappy. But I speak the truth.

❤️

As for gifts my OEC studs were part of my Valentine's Day gift.
I didn't get Greg anything for Valentine's Day. We do cards.

On my own with the pets, and we should probably share a nice piece of Tomahawk steak.

DK :))

Me super luvs! I always want them (when I see them). And in this Tiffany color! :)

You guys are adorable Mrs B!!! I had a chuckle at the appliance exchange. So cute!

We are heading out to lunch on the 13th because I'm a cheapskate and refuse to pay for a scaled down menu at double the price on Valentine's Day.

I'm so excited to have lunch at this place! It's one of our favorite restaurants and we haven't been to it since pre Covid! Didn't want to roam around on the train for too long.

Planning to dress up! Bought quite a few maxi dresses, although hubby loves mini shirts on me so will likely wear one out to lunch. That's my uniform when I go out with him. Tight mini skirt. I tell him he has no class lol!!!

On Thursday (11th) we are heading out for a Lunar New Year buffet!!! Totally excited about that too. Buffets are back in Australia (staff serve you or you order unlimited food from the kitchen)!!! Planning to wear a ridiculous but very swishy green maxi dress!

But i like to do something
Inspired by the 'my mother's cook book' thread im making a retro pinnaple rings tin in red jelly (jelly for breakfast) with a dab of cootage cheese and im thinking about baking some sussages in bread
Having a roast pork for dinner w/ desert - a packet chocolate mouse with the rest of that pinnaple !

How I wish we could do that here!

We don’t really celebrate it. But we did decide that 2/14 would be shale’s (our cat) birthday due to our veterinarians guess at how old he is after we found him.

Also I just got my ombré pearls so that can count as my present to me!

I love your new appliances! And I agree about the cup of coffee. My DH makes a latte for me every weekend so I don’t need to get out of bed. He knows how addicted I am and how I have headaches almost immediately if I don’t get it. This is the biggest gesture of love I can think of. :)

HI:

We don't celebrate either--that said, my DH bought a bottle of champagne and I'll get him chocolates b/c that is his weakness.

cheers--Sharon

I always buy my girls a piece of decadent fudge, a little piece of sterling jewelry and a cosmetic of some sort. Just mailed the VD packet to my eldest in college. Hubby gets extra fudge and more chocolate candy.

My boys get a sweet treat and hubbo gets a bottle of winde and a sweet treat. If I'm off from work, I'll cook a nice supper. We've never been extravagant on VD. Hubby might get me flowers, or chocolate or a bottle of wine. Very practical and consumable.

No plans, no gifts.
My SO and I don't recognize, let alone celebrate any "holidays".

Instead of paying extortion money to tacky manipulative businesses :knockout: I show my love to my sweetie every day of the year.

Actually, VD and all commercialized holidays make me think of the mafia ...
"Hey Buddy, nice romantic relationship you got going there. It'd be ashamed if anything happened to it."
People who make money that way might find less-offensive ways to make a living.

I give to, and do wonderful things for, people I love randomly throughout the year.

All the restaurants are closed here anyway, and good restaurants are closed on Sundays anyway

We don’t usually do anything special on Valentine’s Day, we’ve been married 42 years, so if we didn’t still love each other and want to be together, we wouldn’t be. My DH brings me a cup of tea in bed every morning, that’ll do me!

We are having a formal sit down meal with our children, party planning is one of the things getting my 5 year old daughter through lockdown! We are decorating our dining room, I have bought some heart shaped chocolate for everyone and then we are doing a secret valentines for fun.
This weekend is my husbands birthday and I am about to put on an r2-d2 dress on as said daughter as planned a Star Wars themed birthday party!

Our first year together, we did gifts. For about 10 year after that, we did cards. Now we do nothing. To me, it’s just another day and we do sweet things for each other often. Holidays and the pressure associated with them (and I mean and and all holidays) make me crazy.
