Just got my Vanadium Chrysobyrl E ring back from the jeweler. The stone is a cushion cut and about 1.8 carats if i remember correctly (dont have the papers in front of me right now). It really sparkles in the light.

Also want to give a big thanks to Neal. He was very helpful when i came up here last winter looking for advice on stones that fit my criteria. Thanks Neal!

Oh my god it's stunning! You came in with a lofty goal of a rare stone and oh my god you absolutely knocked it out of the park. I'm so glad you put some diamonds in there that really makes the color pop and it feels very classic. When does she get it??

Oh my! Just wow!!

Oops, sorry Niel. Spelled your name wrong.

I'm thinking sometime in the spring. Probably April or May.

No she doesn't. She does know I'm not a big fan of diamonds or doing the same ol same ol. She has heard my rant of how diamonds aren't actually rare many times haha. I've pretty much all but said I would not get a diamond ring. She agrees about diamonds and all that. Her favorite colors are blues and greens. So this stone should work great.

Ah, sorry again Niel.

It's so pretty! Congrats on the ring and good luck (not that you need it).

Congratulations! The ring is beautiful! Can you tell me where you were able to find the stone?

I reached out to many people. Gary at finewater gems was where I was finally able to find one. Was a great experience doing business with him as well.

I will tell you though that I was extremely lucky. Most places and people hadn't seen a quality stone in a long time. I was just right place at right time.

It was meant to be! I love that!

Gorgeous!! And lucky!! :)

I'm ignorant, can some one tell me why this particular stone is so rare or refer me to a good article? It looks super sparkly and pretty, but obviously based on the comments its more than just sparkly and pretty!

Vanadium Chrysoberyl is colored by Vanadium, which gives it that blue-green look. Vanadium as a coloring agent can lend it's coloration to emeralds as well. Vanadium Chrysoberyl is quite rare, and typically a collector's stone.

Regular chrysoberyl is typically a yellow to yellow-green color. Chrysoberyl can also possess an almost neon yellow to chartreuse look.

And of course Alexandrite is also a chrysoberyl.

Beautiful ring!! The color is amazing

ElleW - thanks! That sounds neat. Does the Vanadium Chrysoberyl still stay as hard as the more typical yellow Chrysoberyl?

Yes

Funny thing is my phone won't focus when I get up close. The sparkle and what not from the stone's throw it off I guess.

Try putting it on a window sill one day when it's sunny. Usually that's good lighting for close up shots.

Another fan here! GORGEOUS!!!

Its really stunning - I hope she is as taken with it as we are!
