Using WF for setting with my diamond

Hi guys -- have been reading some great reports of custom work with WF -- will they set a diamond I haven''t bought from them?

And not to sound snarky,

but how do I know when I get the finished piece back that it''s still my diamond? (I guess you''d have that problem with any jeweler, huh?) I''m assuming you have an appraisal done afterwards to verify that it''s your original stone?

Looking at some other (non-local) options for my expensive 2 ct oval halo project...

Hi Barb,
yes, WF will make a custom setting for you even if you didn''t purchase your stone from them. I would suggest sending it to and indepentant appraiser first then have him/her send it to WF. WF will make your setting and send the completed ring back to the appraiser who can verify it''s the same stone as well as revise the appraisal to include the new setting.

Personally I wouldn''t have a problem sending WF a diamond. I''m sure I''d get it back. But that''s irrelevant, it''s how you can be sure that''s important. As other''s said, get to know your stone if it has any characteristic inclusions. To be totally sure you can have an appraiser check it and even photograph it before and after. I''ve never found this to be necessary though.
