Hello everyone! Please forgive me if this is a silly question but I'm just curious. Is it a common practice to purchase jewelry from eBay at a good price with the intention of taking the piece apart to use it for other projects, custom or otherwise? And if you have done this, I'd love to see the initial piece and then what you turned it into
I have been searching for a right hand ring and have been trolling eBay a lot lately. I found a ring today that's pretty neat, is a 1980s cocktail ring kind of way. It has 3 0.5 ct stones one OEC, one RB and one marquise that honestly look pretty good to my very inexperienced eye. It is in an elaborate yellow gold setting. The seller has 100% positive feedback and there is a 14 day return policy. The price is really reasonable and I'm wondering if it would be worthwhile to buy the ring with the intention of setting the stones in a pre-fab or custom setting that is more what I want.
I feel like I''m making things more difficult than they need to be, but at the same time I feel like this might be a way for me to get what I want within my budget. I don't know....thoughts?
