Used Diamonds

After lots of reading on this website and others, I have gotten the impression that diamonds tend to have low resale value. My question is, where are all the used diamond vendors? I myself would have no problem wearing a used diamond, especially if I can get it at a lower price. I was wondering if anyone knows any vendors that specialize in used diamonds or if used diamonds really are less expensive???? Thanks!

Diamonds don't really get 'worn out' so you would never know where a particular stone has been ! Given this, why woud one discount the stones on the ground of their recent history?

The one way to get 'em 'used' is to go for estate jewelry, with all that this choice entails. It would not be buying a diamond, but a ring and you would be looking for a seller of antique and estate jewelry (possibly some auction)

All diamonds are very old since they come out of the earth and have been there for a long, long time. If you bought a car that had never been bought before, but was 1/10 as old as a diamond it would be outdated and surely suffer from some of the same problems as an old used car.

Diamonds don't really wear out or oxidze and rust away. Dealers who buy them from the public pay no more than the base wholesale value of the stones or they could borrow or buy a similar diamond anytime they needed it without making a substantial investment in advance. Therefore, the cost of carrying the inventory and the various stages a diamond goes through before it is retailed account for the price differential between dumping a diamond and selling it to an end-user.

If you want to take large chances, face fraudulent practices, and take full responsibility, I suggest you go on E-Bay, or the like, and buy a diamond that is represented below normal cost. You will find out, probably the hard way, that this is not for most people. You might be the exception, but I have never yet met one person who claimed to be able to navigate that scenario risk free.

Another diamond trade dirty secret a lot of them are recerted and sold as new.

The pawn shops are overflowing with them in my area.
Make sure and get a return policy in writing that they will take it back if it isnt a real diamond.
That is the only quarentee you will get.
Get a loup and an idealscope and have fun.
I bought the diamond for my girlfriends e-ring this way minus the idealscope I just picked the best looking of the 11 they had on hand in my size range.
I saved aprox 60%-70% off of b&m retail and 30% off internet retail this way.
