Using the NYT link in the attached file, what are your thoughts on where you fall in line to get the Covid vaccine? Are you surprised?

For people who are concerned about getting the vaccine. Blue line is the vaccine, the red is no vaccine. Don't think of this as vaccine or no vaccine. Think of this as vaccine vs covid infection where you will be taking a chance of a spectrum of illness. Mild-mod- -severe +/-not surviving

I’m shocked that my 78 year old father who is immune compromised from a kidney transplant is in the same exact spot that I’m in (23 million ahead of us). That makes no sense. I’m 30 years younger and in good health.

I'm surprised to find myself at the end of the line. I thought for sure I'd at least come before healthy "under thirties." But I see they are also focusing on who is most likely to spread it and I'm out of the workforce (and therefore able to stay home), so I guess that's why.

268.7 million in front of me. :oops2: What are the chances I'll get the vaccine next year???

Edit...I did my dad who is 23 years older than me and has diminished kidney function. He is only behind 23 million. Of course,
he doesnt think he will be able to take the vaccine due to his kidneys. Hey, that puts me one more ahead!

Are you sure you entered your information right? If you are 48, healthy, and not in a high-risk profession, there will be many more people ahead of you.

I'm such a nice guy. I'll let the 330 million people go in front of me. :praise:

I am almost last in line as expected. My father (with weakened lungs) is understandably way up the front of the line.

"Based on your risk profile, we believe you’re in line behind 23.0 million people across the United States.
"

Greg's profile is the same.

Weirdly enough my dad is also behind 23 million others despite his age of 86. Maybe I am doing something incorrectly in the calculations?

Interesting. Thanks for the link Callie.

Same. I find it surprising as well. There are many more people in need than we are due to being out in the work force I think as compared to our elderly parents.

I just did it for fun because I don't even live in the US but I'm last in line!!!

Curious as to why children are in front of me? We don't regard children as high risk at all in Australia. They are going to school without masks, sharing food and generally are really feral. They were the first to resume group activities like karate, dance, swimming etc

Almost last, not surprised. I figured I wouldn't be able to get a vax until at least summer 2021 anyway.

I didn't take the quiz because its kinda not fair with me being in the study. If I get it/don't get it and how soon is really on them.

23 million ahead of me according to this

Does anyone know if there will be early COVID shots available in the U.S. for people who are scheduled for a surgery? I tried to find this info online with no success.

Each state wrote their own guidelines so any estimator is going to be off and it will vary by state.
The guidelines are expected to change often as things progress based on new findings, availability of vaccine doses and transportation resources.
So take the estimator with a grain of salt.

Did you try searching for your states guidelines for covid vaccine distribution?
Here is the IL plan:

I'm the red guy, and I'm pretty close to the top.

The posted NYT estimator asks for not only what state you live in, but also which county in your state.

Perhaps that means a bit less salt.

I also read some states may give it to visitors from other states, so those with money to travel may get it earlier than the poor unwashed masses.

Not fair, but hey ... states vary.
