Hi,
There's something wrong with the link you provided. I got an error message when I clicked on it.

Re: Urgent! Opinions on this James Allen cushion diamond ple

Thanks for your reply Elizabeth, is it working now? I think they had removed it because it is on hold for me, but I have asked them to make it available to view again.

Hi there,

Could anyone please give me there opinion on this diamond please? I tend to like the appearance of larger tables, but I am an amateur so would prefer people who are more knowledgeable on cushion diamonds to give me their opinions, I would really appreciate it! Thank you!

did you ask them if it's eye clean? there's a pretty huge black cloud on the table.
is there a reason why you went so high in color? if you're not too color sensitive you can probably drop down to an H and have a bigger stone.

Re: Urgent! Opinions on this James Allen cushion diamond ple

yes, I can see it now. But I agree with Dawn, that's a pretty obvious cloud center-table. It's a beautiful stone (to uneducated me) apart from that.

Re: Urgent! Opinions on this James Allen cushion diamond ple

Thanks for both of your posts ladies. Yes I've been assured it is eye clean. I am fairly colour sensitive and have been told that colour can be more prominent in cushion cut stones, which is why I have tried to go for a higher colour grading, although I have seen another diamond with grading H that I like, I'm just worried I would see a hint of colour in it, as I like diamonds to look quite icy in colour. Considering it's eye clean, do you think it looks like a good choice? I am seeking reassurance, as I am very lacking in my knowledge of diamonds, so I'm anxious for it to be a good purchase!

Do you have an H diamond Dawn? If so, does it look colourless?

Re: Urgent! Opinions on this James Allen cushion diamond ple

Clearly seen black spots in that diamond. I would really suggest for you to search for more options.

Depending on how much they are asking for that diamond, you could compromise but I doubt it will be a low enough price to be a good purchase settle for that significant flaw.

Re: Urgent! Opinions on this James Allen cushion diamond ple

Otherwise a lovely stone... But I again suggest seeking better stones.

Re: Urgent! Opinions on this James Allen cushion diamond ple

Thanks for your input, there is no worry there though. It is a VS2 diamond so will be eye clean, the photo's are magnified, which is why the inclusions appear prominent.

Re: Urgent! Opinions on this James Allen cushion diamond ple

You welcome.

You could ask for more pictures unmagnified. If you decide to purchase stone and it isn't acceptable due to the black spots, do return it and find something better if you aren't pleased.

Ask and seek more opinions.

Good luck.

Eye-clean based on what standards? I have a feeling this stone wouldn't be eye-clean to my standards, though everyone differs.

Here's another stone in that size/color range worth considering:
.86ct, E, VVS2

Cut is border line. We can find you better. Not all VS2's are eyeclean.

What is your budget? I'm sure we can find you other options.

Re: Urgent! Opinions on this James Allen cushion diamond ple

Ask if that inclusion can be seen at all. Like others have said, not all VS2s are eye-clean. Or, vendors consider them eye-clean
at 6 inches but that's not good enough for most of us.

Other than that it looks like a pretty nice stone. Facets are pretty clear. Looks like it has pretty good light return.
Request an Aset image so we can see how well its returning light.

Re: Urgent! Opinions on this James Allen cushion diamond ple

Yeah, I agree with Tyty - It's really hard for me to believe that the inclusion would not be eye visible. It's right under the table and very close to the surface. You should ask at what distance they believe the stone is eye clean. If you can see it at all, even if others might not notice it at a glance, it will probably drive you nuts the minute you spot it - it's hard to un-spot things.

But, the E is a better choice than the H that you were considering in the other thread - less mushy under the table and a higher color. I hope you request ASETs before you pull the trigger to better evaluate light return - everyone here will be happy to help you evaluate them :-)
