I ordered a Tacori ring from sister''s jewelry and had it overnighted through UPS. I recieved the package this morning and when I opened the outer box and inside was another box that was opened and emptied. Nothing, absolutely nothing... not even an invoice was left behind. I basically got air. A closer examination showed that one side of the outer box was taped up. I called Sisters and they filed a claim with Parcel Pro and Parcel Pro called me requesting that I ship back the boxes for finger printing which I promptly did. Now, I have to wait. I saved up all the money to get this ring and this happens! ARGH! What else can I do? Should I file a police report? Should I contact my CC company? What do I do? I''m going nuts! Please advise.

Has anyone dealt with Parcel Pro? Has this ever happened to anyone? Please help. Thanks!

Ohmigod, I''m sorry I don''t have any useful information. I just wanted to express how sorry I am this happened to you!

I'm sorry to hear of your loss.

Parcel pro is a good outfit. They are a 3rd party insurance company that jewelers use to insure packages through UPS and FedEx. Their request of the for boxes for fingerprinting would suggest that they already have a police investigation underway but you may want to call them and ask to be sure. This is definitely a criminal matter.

Thank you. I had my propose all planned, ready and set to be done next week and my e-ring got stolen! Now I have to cancel my trip. Just my luck.

Should I also file a police report? Would they deny the claim because I have my finger prints on the boxes too.

That stinks. I am not surprised it happens here and there but it is terrible. Did the store have a return label that clearly identified it as a jewelry store? I hope it gets resolved soon!

How do online vendors get around this issue (return label identifying them as a vendor)??

Moon, I think they use initials or do something so it is not clear. You just do not want stuff floating around that is clearly from a jewelry store. Even Hermes and Tiffany''s put something different on the label...

I don''t know that you''d be able to file a police report because there''s no proof that it even occurred in your state...but no, the insurance company should take care of it for you. I''m so sorry this happened!!!!

Thanks for the info. I had actually read a thread about this issue before, and for some odd reason it never occurred to me how they get around this. I can''t believe people. I hope their karma catches up to them quick!

How awful! I am so sorry that this happened to you...it is terrible enought that these people you trust with your packages would steal in the first place, but an engagement ring? That is some nerve! I hope that the issue is resolved quickly and I am sorry that your proposal has been put on hold

I hope karma catch those who steal. I ordered the ring a month ago and was told it was ready Wednesday morning. I couldn''t sleep Wednesday night in anticipation for the ring. I will keep you all updated as the situation comes around.

Ditto--I'm so sorry!!
I hope karma catches up to them too, and you know, it probably will. People that steal will ultimately be stolen from.

I would call my cc company just to alert them to the matter. They might have some advice as well.

I hope that this is resolved quickly, so you can proceed with your proposal! So sorry!!!

I would contact your credit card company immediately. Tell them exactly what happened, and put a stop payment or pause on the transaction. If you paid with a wire transfer, I''m not sure your bank will help you. Good luck - my heart hurts just reading this.

Thank you all for the support.

Do you think I should alert my Credit Card company of this matter even though the jeweler''s insurance company and the jeweler are working on this issue? My credit card company states that I have 60 days to file a dispute and I''m already on my 30th day. What do should I do? Thank you all again.

Addendum: I contacted my credit card company to make a note in my account for this incident. I will let you guys know if anything else develops.

Good luck rca! Be sure to keep us posted.

I sure will do! :) I''ll be calling my jeweler and the insurance place on Tuesday since the boxes I sent back will arrive at the claim''s office on Monday. I figured they''ll get to my case within the next day of receiving the evidence. keep you post.

That''s awful! Sorry to hear that your proposal is going to be put off for a bit. I hope that things get sorted for you soon.

I think that you did the right thing by contacting your cc company. It is great that the jeweler & insurance are working with you, but it is, at the very least, peace of mind that you made note of it and covered your own fanny.

I am so sorry to hear that happen I would just for safe measure contact the police anyway

Urgh people who do things like that make me sick but I do believe in Karma for sure.

Hopefully this will be resolved quickly for you :)

Thanks for all the support guys. Here''s an update.

I called the jeweler and the insurance place this morning. The jeweler said she just placed a replacement order for the same ring as the investigation is under way. I just need to wait another month again.

The insurance person who I spoke to said the boxes will be sent to the underwriters where the investigation will begin. I really hope this ends and I''ll be driving 210 miles this time to pick up the ring in person. :P I just don''t want this fiasco to happen again.

It sucks that you''re having to wait. What a bummer! Are you having to pay for this ring as well or who is? I don''t really understand very well in a situation like that.

Argh...At least they are making another one for you. Too bad you have to spend all your time to pick it up. Do you have another plan on the proposal?

The ring was insured by the jeweler who sent it to him. They make the claim and get the insurance payment. He didn''t need to call his CC company really. They are ordering his ring again. So he has already paid for it.

RCA420, I am so sorry this happened to you. But just be thankful your diamond wasn''t in the setting!!!

How do online vendors get around this issue (return label identifying them as a vendor)??

Most of us don''t use our actual company name when shipping to avoid any indication that the contents of the package may be valuable. Parcel Pro is a prominent third party insurance company used by many members of the industry to provide insurance for their packages beyond the limits allowed for by UPS and Fed Ex. In my experience, both Parcel Pro and the carriers take the theft of package contents very seriously. Still this is an unfortunate hassle, especially since I imagine that Tacori will need to start making the ring from scratch which is a four week production at this point in time. I''m sorry that you are involved in such a loss and hope that the matter is resolved as quickly as possible to your benefit RCA420.

If you are referring to Sister''s Jewelry in Boston, they are very reputable and will do everything in their power to work with you. That has been my experience over the last 10 years. I think they are awesome. My best girlfriend and I have made purchases (or our husband''s have made them ;-) with them for a long time and they are very honorable ladies. They will do right by you no matter what. Good luck!

I''m glad everything turned out so good so far and thank goodness the diamond wasn''t in there! Otherwise, I would have gone insane. Anna from Sister''s Jewelry is great to work with and I seriously hope UPS and/or Parcel Pro will work with the local authorities to catch the bastard who stole my ring and be charged with Grand Larceny, so he or she will not strike again on other people''s precious packages.

@diamondseeker2006: My CC hasn''t been charged for this replacement and I contacted my credit card company to make a note on my account and not to file a dispute. Thank goodness my diamond wasn''t with the setting and I can''t stress that enough.

I''ll wait another month and drive 210 miles to pick it up this time around. It''ll be a long trip, but I''ll know the ring will be by my side the entire time and nothing will happen to it.

Will keep you guys updated. Thanks everyone!

Well I''m glad it is working out for you. I''m sorry about your first loss

Good luck, rca! Please come back with pictures for us!

Well I am sorry that you have to wait it out again, but happy to hear that the new ring is on the way to production. Good luck with all this.
