Can anyone give me info on upgrading my center stone? I currently have a 1.09 Round Brilliant (i''m pretty sure it''s a F/VS2..I don''t have the info with me) with two .25 rounds on either side. I would like to upgrade my center stone to a 1.65 or larger stone. Does anyone know if jewelers will give us a credit for the current stone and apply it to the new stone?

Oh, we''re from the Boston area, so if anyone can recommend a jeweler that would be great.

Thanks!

unfortunately, only your original jeweler MAY give you 100% on the center stone (chances are slimmer for sides) towards a trade in. You'd have to check their policy. Otherwise, prepare for a shocker! The hit will be pretty substantial. It may be cheaper to sell outright on this forum or ebay (e/t I'd be SUPER careful of ebay...and when all those scams out there...even your 'good' deal will look high...compared to those 2carat stone for $1.00!) .... But you never know, if you find a jeweler who has the stone you want in stock, and your stone is sellable, you might do ok! Start calling around your area! Best of luck!

Local jewelers offered me wholesale for a marquise diamond when I considered part exchanging that for a new ring I was buying. This may be what you'll hear.
