So after four years of wearing my engagement ring, hubby gave me the green light to upgrade. I originally had a three round stone platinum setting with a 1.61 center, and two sides totally 1.42. I just traded in the center stone (unfortunately, for a measley $9,000) for a 2.57. I am keeping the same side stones. It is GIA certified as an excellent cut. It is a H and SI1. The inclusions were small and on the side (not center) of the stone. It has a slight blue flourescent and all of the other stuff was excellent or very good. I don''t have the copy of the GIA certificate in my possession yet so I can''t remember everything. The cost of the stone is $26,500. Obviously, I applied the $9,000 credit. They have to adjust the original platinum setting to accommodate the new stone. Do you guys think the price is ok given what I said? Do you think the ring will look ok with the side stones. I am so excited to get it!!!

I think the proportions will be fine, but I hope your finger has enough width to handle a three-stone at that size! Please come back with pictures...we''d love to see it!!!

congrats on the upgrade! that''ll be quite the size jump, especially with a three-stone ring.

i did a quick search on 2.5ct stones, H SI1, and WF has a 2.477 ACA H SI1 for $26,676. not knowing much about your new stone, i can''t say more than it seems like a reasonable amount for a 2.57 H SI1.

what is your ring size? i agree with diamondseeker that the ring might overpower your finger. you might want to consider resetting the side stones as earrings and use a different shape like pears or traps/baguettes to balance out your center stone.

do you have photos of your current ring, particularly handshots? that would definitely help us to visualize the upgrade.

I don't have any good pics of the old ring. I believe I am a size 6. The diamonds will be set low in the setting. Now I am worried that it will be too big for my hand. I was planning on also wearing it with my diamond eternity band which is a ctw of 4.27. Oh...there is a faint flourescent...I said slight in the original post.

I wouldn''t worry as I think it will be gorgeous and perfectly fine!

I have previously tried on a 3 stone ring with a 3 ct. center and 1 ct. side stones (all round). I wear a size 6.5 and there was no problem with it fitting across my finger. You will be FINE and it will look gorgeous!

oh, i think the ring will look fine if you''re a size 6! i''m a 5.5 and when i try on 3 stone RBs, i definitely need more carat weight for adequate coverage. i was just worried that you might be smaller than a 5!

your new ring sounds lovely, can''t wait to see the finished product!

Be sure to post pictures!

(if the ring is too big for you, you can always make the side stones into earrings
