Hi
I was having an Oval diamond set in an East-West setting. However, the jeweller has been really poor. When I went in to try on the ring, the ring was sized at least 4 or 5 sizes too big. It was going to be re-sized, but they have had it to be re-sized since the beginning of the year and it is still not done.
I am really disappointed because I wanted the ring to be made in my size, I am concerned that the resizing which weaken the ring, especially because of the E-W setting. They have also been funny about that fact that I wanted a GIA certed diamond and basically have just taken the shine off the whole process.
The shop does have a good return policy and I am considering simply telling them not to bother to re-size and get our money back.
if i do that, my husband says i can then choose a different RHR.
However, I already have a gorgeous 5 stone ring that I wear on my right hand and I was wondering whether it would be a nice idea to upgrade my engagement ring.
I love the setting of my engagement ring (three stone, with slight gaps between each of the stones so that it is clearly visible as 3 stones at all times - i don't have any good close ups). The diamonds however are uncertified and I have no idea of cut/clarity/colour. They look quite yellow to me, especially compared to my 5 stone (F, VS2s, excellent cuts), and I am colour sensitive.
The diamonds are not massive (0.64ct total weight) so I am thinking that it would be within budget possibilities to get three AGS stones in replacement of the current stones. I have looked on Brian Gavin and it does seem to be within budget, and with a high colour (D, E and F, which is important to me).
What I don't know though is whether it would be possible to get stones the same size (seeing as i don't actually have the specs of the current diamonds) and whether resetting new diamonds would make the setting change slightly from the one I love now.
I was wondering what people's opinions would be, especially if you have had diamonds reset into the same setting.
Thanks for your time.
