Hello!! I posted a while back about a shallow stone that I was considering, and everyone''s input was so helpful that I just wanted to give a quick update!
Becuase we had questions regarding the shallow crown angle and the price, we decided to look a bit more. We contacted a another jeweler (the only other jeweler that we asked to bring in some stones) and after passing on about 4 more, we found the perfect diamond (which cost less than the original one we were considering)!!!! It is absolutely amazing!! It''s an I, SI1, AGS 0/0/0, and it also happens to be a Lazare diamond (which I wasn''t looking for, and I don''t need, but somehow this one happened to fit into our budget and met our other specs.). I don''t have all the numbers on me (altho many I know by heart) but it scored 1.8 on HCA. If you look at the numbers super critically, I think its slightly off some versions of "ideal" (i.e the pavillion depth is 43.3, which takes it out of AGA Class 1A, and the girdle is thick in one spot), but, it also has everything else that we wanted, and was miraclously within our budget- granted at the absolute tippy-top of our budget!!! So we got to the point where we were just driving ourselves crazy with specs, and after sleeping on this one for a few days we went back and bought it!!!
Oh yeah- did I mention that the size is 3.11???????????????? I just cannot believe that we found a stone in that size (I never thought we could actually get a 3) in our budget that is also graded so well by AGS- i''m 100% dumbfounded/in disbelief. I also can''t believe that my guy actually agreed to buy it!!! (we''ve been together over 5 years now, and at first, he didn''t want to spend anything on a diamond, so he''s come a long way!!)
When we told jeweler 1 that we were not going to buy the first stone, i actually got a very nasty phone call from the jeweler about it, which shocked and upset me. I know it was a big sale that they lost, but i thought that was very unprofessional. At first I felt very guilty about shopping around, but then I realized that we had done nothing wrong. We never said we were going to buy that stone or buy from that jeweler. So i''ve decided to move on and just focus on the fabulous stone that we got!!
We picked a simple solitaire setting (we had no $ left to go fancy!), and I saw the finished product yesterday- it is absolutely jaw-droppingly amazing!!!!!! I cannot believe that I''ll get to actually wear it!! Anyway, my guy is holding it hostage until he proposes... so for now i have to wait.... Once I get it though, I''ll post pics!!! I made him promise that he can''t come on here and post pics before I''m wearing it!
Thanks again for all of your help- Pricescope is such a wonderful place to get informed and to find ideas!!! Without this forum we would never have been able to make such an informed decision- thanks!!!!
