I wrote a few weeks ago asking advice about our cat Pumpkin as she seemed to have some problem breathing.

Since then, we have taken her to see two separate vets. They both wanted to give her medication for hairballs as well as for worms. We had no problem with the hairball medication but were worried about the worm one, as we thought it might be too strong for her and perhaps unnecessary. In the end, we were persuaded that that was the right thing to do. Well, she did expel some furballs but no worms!

The best thing is that she seems to have no more breathing problem.

What's interesting though is that the second vet said Pumpkin was a bit overweighed which surprised us hugely. She's a very small cat (typical of her breed), and she weighs about 9lbs. He also said that she needed more stimulation since she used to go out a lot and had lots of trees and birds to play with. So now we're in the market for a cat tree/ cat house and we need to play with her more than we used to. Granted we already knew that Pumpkin needed a huge amount of attention and we already played with her a lot (our friends as well as we ourselves have always joked that she's a cat in a dog's body

), we now need to find even more ways to stimulate her. We were also told to give Pumpkin her food a little bit at a time and also hide it away from her (rather than just leave it "all out there") and encourage her to go look for it, as it'll encourge her "hunting instincts".

Oh and the other thing is that we've found where to buy "cat grass" to grow for her to munch on.

DH and I are both relieved and obviously VERY happy indeed that Pumpkin seems to be back in the pink of health!

Have you tried using a laser pointer on Pumpkin? It drives my cats insane and they get a lot of exercise with it. Its almost like a remote control for cats.

Glad to hear that Pumpkin is feeling better.
This is the cat tree we ended up getting.
It has everything we wanted, was easy to put together and is sturdy.
The company is Amarkat They have many styles and sizes.
Check around for the best price.
