Excellent!!!

What are you going to do with it???

Excellent!!!

What are you going to do with it???

The initial project was To make a solitaire in a buttercup setting with a ring i already have 20210508_175857.jpg20210507_124612.jpg
However the jeweller told me it was impossible to fit the stone into the setting. The diamond is 5,8mm and the paste set into the ring is 6,7mm .there is too much gap. So now i am wondering if i should find a solution to fit the diamond into the ring. This is an ideaScreenshot_20210519-215237_eBay.jpg
Or if i should search another setting.

Hi there, I would recommend getting a new setting that fits your stone properly rather than trying to modify an existing setting. At the end of the day it's going to be more cost effective and a nicer result.

Wow! Yay it's so pretty! did you get a pretty good price on it?

That would be a lovely ring! Congrats on your successful find!

Thank you, the price was more than good Screenshot_20210520-175841_eBay.jpg

WHAT!! Wow you scored GOOD! I am living vicariously through you! So exciting, i bet you're super happy with that :D

How exciting for you! and what a bargain you found. I suggest a new setting as well instead of remaking the current one. You will have a stunning ring!

I am very happy because i always loves oec diamond but never had a chance to get one. So it's my time to shine. There is a small omc that is actually on sale on ebay if you are interested

It doesn't look like the ship to the US, or I'd be all about those earrings too!

Please ask the vendor. I think they ship oversea but you need to ask her first.

Congrats! Great score!

Congratulations.
what a wonderful find.
Always intrigues me (I too have scored some “finds”) why vendors don’t bother doing a bit of research before selling!
Not complaining though !

This is the best news! It is a diamond!!!!! I hope this gets you the diamond ring you have wished for. Congratulations. I’m actually very surprised, that bruted girdle really DID look like an antique diamond girdle, but the cut is not quite typical to see. (Maybe this is a French antique cut?). I also read recently that Georgian era diamonds WERE backed by foil, so that might explain the foil backing on the setting. Maybe its a much earlier diamond cut than I’ve ever seen! This is the best news, so happy for you.

Regarding your setting idea. The buttercup setting will give the stone a larger appearance and those long style prongs really give diamonds a lot of visibility. I love the style. There are often empty antique settings to be found on eBay. Keeping the same Buttercup style will look great.

Congraduations on a great find !
Your intuition was correct all along

I mean if it had just been a piece of glass it was still beautiful and would have made a pretty pendent
but now its a diamond you can justify spending money on a setting

I remenber your thread
Im sorry your feeling got hurt

I think a lot of the time with the internet its not intentional, its just how things read from far away :(2

im really glad you came back to tell us the news its real !

I am very happy about it, ahahahaha you remebered the debacle with the foil backing and frosted gridle. What an adventure ! About the cut i really think it's an early oec i wish i knew how to upload a video here so you could see how it perform. I made a gif with the stone but the gif reduce drasticaly the quality of the image. 20210428_165843_2.gif
