Unknown Ring, info welcome

Hey Guys,
I found the info on this forum to be very helpful and useful so I just recently signed up.

I'm looking to find any info in regards to a ring that has been in my family for about 15 years.
This is a long shot, but since I don't know much about rings this would be my best bet at learning something.

What I have been told is that it is Italian, has been in a drawer for nearly 15 years now, and says 18KHGE in the ring.
There are 24 circular crystals (dont know of what kind) and 11 rectangular crystals (1 missing), with a finely cut black gem in the middle (does not appear to be diamond since it can be scratched, but not easily).

Any idea as to the value of this piece or any further info on it is much appreciated.

Go to a local jeweler and find out if those are real diamonds. That looks like a black sapphire to me (no real value, honestly) but have it checked. You need someone looking at it in person. Value depends on more information.

18KHGE means 18 Karat Heavy Gold Electroplate which means gold plated over base metal. Common to rings sold by companies like Avon, Trifari, and the like. Chances are the stones are probably costume also. If you really want to know about the stones, a competent jeweler with a gemologist on staff could tell you what they are, but you may have to pay.
