Long time reader, first time writer here. I once saw a x-prong setting at a jeweler and it has since been sold. I was wondering if anyone knows who the designer was. It is different from other x-prongs that I have seen due to the fact that when you look down on it from the top (semi-mount) you can actually see the prongs crisscross. All of the x-prongs I have seen have the prongs crossing from bottom left to the bottom right and so forth.

Thanks Radiantlover. That is the closest thing I have seen yet. The under view is really close to what the original looked like. Very close but minus the side parts of the W.

Are there any x prongs that sit flush with a band? I am keeping my existing wedding band.

Also is it true that the ''standard'' for a x prong is that it should be the same width as the diamond? I am looking at a RB 2.5ct diamond but I am afraid a thick band may look odd on my size 4.5 finger. Any thougths?

I don''t think it''s standard for the band to be the same width as the diamond. My wife''s diamond is 5.58mm wide (.85 Jubilee) and the band is around 3mm.

Actually along the same lines is it possible to get a "non-curved groove" in the band aka a regular round band to sit flush with an x-prong ering?

My wife has a regular band and it sits pretty flush to her x-prong. My guess is it would depend on the size of the diamond and how it''s set.

ep6585 thanks for the response...I guess it remains to be seen. I''ve always liked the x-prong setting but was never very fond of the curved matching band.

I do not think so. Close, but not flush.
