Hi to all. I recently purchased this unheated 2.77 ct. cushion cut sapphire. It has a C. Dunaigre cert. that gives a colour/hue as blue and saturation as vivid but no mention of tone. Treatment; no indications of heating. Origin: Shows gemological properties consistent with Sri Lanka (Ceylon). The blue is amazing and the stone just glows. Thoughts on the tone? On this stone? I realize terms like cornflower blue and royal blue are imprecise and loose terms but I wonder if GRS would call this royal blue or where it fits on the blue spectrum?

Regards,
Andy

To me, yours is royal blue and the color in my avatar pic is more like cornflower blue. Nice sapphire! Do you have plans to set it?

I do plan to have a platinum halo created for it. I love colored gems, particularly untreated ones with amazing color and saturation. My wife is the beneficiary of my expensive hobby, but she does not seem to complain. Lol.
