i''m not sure if it''s customary for women to buy their FI''s band, but FI purchased his own from a friend of a friend, he chose a 3mm domed, comfort fit white gold band, he also requested some engraving (in cursive) on the inside to match mine, a special saying to us as well as our wedding date

well a few days later, FI picks up his ring and i am very underwhelmed, the ring is far too domed, and they claimed that they couldn''t engrave the inside of the ring in cursive because of the comfort fit (my ring is much thinner and it was engraved in cursive), so instead they engraved the saying in large block letters, all caps

FI says he is happy with it, but i''m unhappy that he didn''t get what he paid for, should i move on since FI seems to be happy with it, or should i insist that he go back and get what he paid for?

He is happy with it and he is the one who''ll be wearing it. Block or cursive don''t seem to matter to him so why make a fuss.

If he truly likes it then I don''t see a problem. Guys are different about their jewelry. My SO thought a ring he has now would make a good wedding ring. Um...no.

if he''s happy, I''d just let it go, as it seems like your FI is fine with it. He''s the one wearing it.

FI mentioned that he wouldn''t be wearing his ring much at all, so i guess i shouldn''t make a big deal, but it bugs me when i don''t get what i pay for

he doesn''t actually like it, he''s just ''ok'' with it, for the money he paid, i guess part of me wished he actually liked it, i could have bought a nicer ring for cheaper, but he wanted to go through his friend of a friend

Why won't he be wearing his ring? Because he doesn't really like it? Or it's not comfortable?

Why won't he be wearing his ring?
he's not much of a jewelry guy, so he doesn't plan on wearing it much, so i'm thinking, why spend money on a ring he doesn't plan on wearing much and it still didn't turn out right?

ETA: he doesn't want to wear it because he feels uncomfortable wearing jewelry

Well its true, if he likes it, you probably shouldnt fuss over it. However, maybe you could approach it by getting a "temp" one from a store to show him how they could do it? In case he just needs to see it in person to get the idea of something you could get him.
