I hope this question does not offend any PS vendors or members. Do you know if it would be acceptable to negotiate a price listed on the vendors’ website/PS search page? And if anybody had successful negotiations in the past? I never bought diamonds before but I had spent similar amount on cars and I always was able to get it cheaper that the sticker price

You can always ask and try to negotiate, but what I think you are going to find is that the PS vendors (and most other internet diamond sellers) already work on very low profit margins and won't have much, if any, wiggle room on price. I don't think anyone would take it as unethical, but don't expect to work the price down like you do on a car. Only the seller will know what they have invested in a stone or setting, so all you can do is ask and see what the response is. Many of the vendors offer discounts to PS members, so that will help you out a little on price.

many PS vendors do offer PS discount that doesn't show up on their website, so you have to specifically ask for it sometimes,

You can ask and I don't see an issue.
Make sure and mention PS so that the PS discount is applied if there is one.
Just be prepared to be told that is our best price or at best just a very small amount off and don't get mad about it.

Ditto Jet also you might be able to get a discount if you pay with a bank wire.

It''s worth bringing the subject up.
all they can say is no.
Not going to mention names or circumstances, but I found that a vendor I learned about on here (I don''t know if they are officially a ''Pricescope'' vendor) was willing to bring down the price of a significant purchase a certain extent, once it was clear to them that I was a serious buyer, and I got a very good deal, even over and above the standard PS wire discount.
Of course you have to be reasonable too--you shouldn''t be expecting to get something for nothing. Vendors have to make a living, too and as stated above, the prices you find here are amazing already compared to any B & M (and the quality usually higher, too).

I''ve found that some vendors will negotiate with price within reason. You have nothing to lose by asking. Good luck!

I''m with Storm-no harm in asking but don''t be mad if they tell you they can''t. Their margins are often small as it is.

Hehehe!!!

Thanks Miss Marian and Demon! I often end up with bunny avatars....

I''d say that any vendor who took offense to someone asking for a discount deserves a skip- it''s only smart to ask, you should never feel bad about that- nor should a vendor make you feel bad about asking IMO.

Good points made about the low margins,. and that you may not get a large discount
Also a great point about paying by bank wire.
The credit cards charge the seller a commission. If you help them save that, many will put it right into your pocket.

Another suggestion I have: If you are buying a diamond and a ring, buying them together, from the same vendor might also prove to help your negotiating position.

I''d be remiss f I did not also agree that Lorelie''s bunny is really cute!

Thank you all for your responses

Right on Dave. I''d echo those sentiments. All ef em.

Including Lorelei''s bunny.
