Hi there. I understand that buying an uncertified diamond is a big no-no on here but I wanted to see what people thought about this situation. So I am dealing with a local jeweler who buys wholesale diamonds from Aleah Siegel, who is a 5th generation jeweler and a 3rd generation GIA gemologist. Siegel gets all her diamonds from Israel. I am interest in a pear diamond which Siegel has personally graded it G color and SI2 clarity. Now even the color or clarity grading is off, I know it is whiter than a GIA J color diamond and it is eye clean. It is 1.49 carats for $6600...no enhancements whatsoever and it looks beautiful. It isn't certified because they never sent it in to get it certified but the jeweler said I can pay for the certification if I would like to. What do you think? Still a no go?

What happens if you pay to get a cert and it comes back different than represented?

I'd get the answer to that, and consider getting a gia cert

Yeah I get her newsletter every week and she calls inclusions birthmarks and is very into her retailers selling her diamonds whether or not they are treated, certified or uncertified. So please be sure you are careful and have the stones checked out by someone else. She is cute and adorable but she is also trying to move her diamonds. Sorry ffor being jadded but ...after being on PS for 2 years I am extra cautious
