I recently read an article online about caring for diamonds. Someone from DeBeers stated that if a diamond has an inclusion or crack (I guess that means feather) it shouldn''t be put in an ultrasonic cleaner as that can cause the inclusion or crack to expand. Is this true?

My ring has a feather and I take it to my jeweler weekly for professional cleanings. Bad idea?

crazy talk. All diamonds will have inclusions, just depends on how high a magnifications you are looking at.

This isn't true, maybe with an I2 or I3 diamond with durability issues there is a very slight chance this could happen but basically I wouldn't worry.

You have a pro cleaning weekly Sarah?

Thanks for the responses! My diamond is an SI2 with a feather, so I freaked out after reading the interview with a DeBeers spokesperson. Lorelei, I have a friend who works in a jewelry shop and he is kind enough to put my rings in an ultrasonic when I stop by. After being on PS for as long as I''ve been, I''m obsessive about keeping my diamond clean and sparkling as best it can. :)
