UK most popular names for 2010

Jessica is really surprising to me. It's very much an early 1980s name to me.

Maybe it only now made it to the UK ;)

Yep. It was number 1 here in the mid 80s and again it the mid 90s...and ranked 92 last year. Took the long way across the pond, apparently :)

Although I've heard that the name Kate is doing the opposite thing...it was popular in the UK years ago and is just now picking up steam here.

No suprises there then...

Jessica has pretty much always been in the top 10 for as long as I can remember...

I know a gazillion Kates in their late 20's - early 30's, mainly because Katherine/Catherine was so popular in the 70's, 80's that people used Cate, Catie, Katie, Kat, Cathy etc etc so as not to be Catherine 3 or whatever in school.

Alfie??? :knockout:

Interesting about Oliver / Olivia. Are they as popular in the states (doesn't seem so to me)? I'm curious if there is a cultural reference there?
