Just curious how others have gone about this my finger size is an Australian/UK size M according to the charts I have seen I am apparently a US size 6 but when I have tried on a size 6 it is a little too small to get over my knuckle. If it were my ring I could possibly smush it on but it would not be tight.

Apart from seeing if Tiffany''s will size my finger which I won''t get a chance to get there for another week or so how did others work out there US size? Also are the sizes the same across the board or does it vary from manufacturer to manufacturer?

i was helping a friend by from WF last year... on the subject of ring size conversions, they said they had used this chart: here for converting UK to US sizes...

which would put your uk M as a US 6 1/4 - which would collerate with a 6 being that slightly too small :)

I''m neither UK nor Aussie but I am familiar with the problem!

Tiffanys tell me I''m a 6, Cartier say I''m a 52. The former is an M, the latter is an L 1/2. All the jewellery stores that measured me using the UK sizing system (five of them) say I''m a K 1/2. Leon considers that a 5 3/8 and that seems to be the most common conversion size for it online so we''re going with that!

This thread might have a solution for you!

Lord Summerisle''s chart puts me at a 5 1/2. It''s so confusing

Best to get your hands on some US sizers I think!

Thanks Lord Summerisle and Delster

I apparently have weird fingers as well as mine go straight down too :P

According to the lady at Tiff's ages ago who was trying to guestimate my finger size from me telling her I was an M told me that would be a size 7 or bigger and the online charts were wrong. According to Leon's site I am a size 6, when I was in Cartier I believe the ring I tried was a 52.5 if I remember correctly and it felt a little loose like it would spin but not fall off.

Is Tiff's consistent with others in sizing?

ETA These might do the Trick I could send the ring over :D

When I bought my Whiteflash Legato setting I ordered a size 7 (I am a UK size O). It had sizing beads fitted to stop it spinning as my knuckle is big but my finger on the other side is thinner. It fit me perfectly. But when I received my new split shank setting in a size 7 I could barely get it over my knuckle. My finger was really sore. I have returned it to have it sized up. I think your size will depend on the setting you are buying.

I asked a similar question at one point and I think the most helpful suggestion was either to ask the vendor with whom you are dealing send you their sizers if they have any, or to send them a ring of yours that fits perfectly (ideally that is the same width as the ring you are getting, since the widths affect how they fit). Even though sizer gauges can vary, so I think that''d only be useful if you mailed the one that fit you best to the jeweler. And, again, only if that sizer is representative in width of the ring you are having made.

But! If you are thinking about getting a ring from Tiff''s and will be there in a week, I say save the hassle and just let them measure you.

Thanks Maisie and Gwendolyn :) I don''t know the exact width of the ring because FF won''t tell me

but it will be under 2mm most likely 1.8mm. I found some plastic ring sizers fairly cheap on Ebay so I think I will just buy those and send the one that fits onto LM

.

At least I know it will be accurate

Oh, those ring sizers should be about that width (I think) so you should be fine!

YAY :)

I will wait for him to wake up and stick on his CC :D

I went to Tiffs and got them to size me in lots of different widths of shank.

Took FI there the other week to get his size for his w-band.

I think your plan to send a sizer band that fits you is the best idea!

It seems the safest way to go!
The different size conversions seem very confusing - I''m a 6.5 in Tiffany, 52 in Cartier Trinity, my rings bought here are M 1/2 and N.
