I went to look at some HOF diamonds today so that I could get a good idea of what my color tolerance is...and I left feeling even more confused then before I went! I am wanting either an ACA or a BGD Signature diamond, and I want to get as big as I can for around $6200--that is most likely the highest I can go. So, yes, this will get me a 1 carat but there''s just something about saying that my diamond is over a carat lol
. I''ve been trying to decide between an H or an I diamond, and I''ll do SI1 clarity as long as it is eye clean. Half of me wants to pick an I diamond because I can get really close to 1.20 carats with that, but if I go with an H, then I might not be able to get to 1.10. even I realize these are very small mm measurements, but I swear my husband and I can tell the difference between .10 in diamonds. Now, at first, I couldn''t tell the difference between the H and the I, but then the jewelry guy put them face-down on white paper, and the difference was clear to me. The I was tinted. I should also note that they did not have a HOF diamond in the I color, so they brought me out another "ideal" cut diamond for the I. After I saw that the I was tinted on the bottom, I took both of them to the middle of the store so it was not under those lights, and *thought* I *might* be able to distinguish a bit of difference between the two. So, now, I just don''t really know what to do. Should I play it safe and go for the H, and just get a slightly smaller diamond? Or, go for the I and get a little more carat weight? I should add that the diamond is going in a cushion halo setting, if that helps. I''d just love to hear advice on what any of the PS''ers would personally do.
