I am looking at a ring with a Tycoon cut diamond that has an extremely thin girdle. Will this be a problem (e.g. easy breakage)? Should I consider a better girdle rating?
I have never heard of a tycoon cut diamond. What is that? In most cases people do avoid extremely thin or very thin girdles. Thin to slightly thick is the preferred range.
Was this the same one from your other post that is already set? It has a halo doesn''t it? If it''s set and protected from the sides, I don''t think you''d have much of a problem with it.
Thanks for the reply and pic. The GIA Certificate rates the girdle as extremely thin to medium so it is not extremely thin all over. How do I figure out where the extremely thin part of the stone is and where the medium part is? The stone is already set as the center stone in a three piece setting.
