If someone only gives a card, do you send a thank you note? If so, do you just say "Thank you so much for the well wishes! Have a safe and wonderful new year!" :)
Guess what I''m doing today btw lol

I've never sent a thank-you card for a card unless money was included in the card. Possibly I'd sent a happy new year card in return. . .but it always bugs me when people only send cards because the other people do so I may just call and say happy new year too or email them. Like the person who gets a card from me a few days before Christmas and then in return a card from them shows up a few days later.

This reminds me. . .I still have cards to mail out.

lol ok thanks mc :)
good luck with your cards!

My dh''s aunt passed away not too long ago and I belive all he sent was a card.

We received a small card in return (certainly not necessary from my point of view).
The note had a lovely pre-printed saying in it...

Perhaps you sent a lovely card
Or sat quietly in a chair.
Perhaps you sent a floral piece,
If so, we saw it there.

Perhaps you spoke the kindest words
As any friends could say,
Perhaps you were not there at all,
Just thought of us this day.

Whatever you did, whatever your part,
We prayerfully thank you for consoling our hearts.

I only send a thank you note in response to a card when the card is a condolence card.

Otherwise, I wouldn''t send a thank you note for a card that was sent to wish me a happy birthday/New Year/wedding, etc.

I am guessing these are for your wedding right? In that case I don''t think you need to send a card for their card unless they also gave you a gift.

If it''s just a well-wishing card, then no, you don''t need to send a TY.

But, that card might be an invitation to send a note or letter back. Cards with your initial or a pretty design are perfect for this purpose. Sometimes when I receive a well-wishing card from someone I haven''t heard from in awhile, I think it''s so sweet that they thought of me, so I write back just to let them know what''s going on and open up better lines of communication.
