I''m a novice and am trying to get an idea of a reasonable price to see if my jeweler is charging me a good price. The general metrics are .92 E/SI1 radiant for $4400. The only metrics I know are size, color and clarity. It seems like most E SI1 radiants of this size are around $4500, but I found this one for much less. Why is it so much cheaper?

0.91 E SI1 65.3% 67% GIA thk vtk- no vg vg no 6.74-4.99-3.26 $3815

Compared to this:

0.91 E SI1 61.4% 65% GIA thn-med no gd gd no 5.86x5.68x3.49 $4782

Any help would be appreciated. thanks

I am just bumping this for you so that Coda will see it, she has a special interest in Radiants and is good with them. She should be logging in shortly.

Well, with everything else being equal, I would attribute a difference in price to how well-cut the stone is. Radiants, unlike rounds, don't have standards that make an ideal cut stone, but whoever is selling the stone will be able to tell how well cut it is by looking at it, and hopefully will price it accordingly. However, it could also be a case of someone trying to get too much money for a stone that isn't worth it. There's no real way of telling, since there is some variation in the price. Try not to worry too much about the price, provided there isn't a huge difference, and go with the one that is the most well-cut and you like the best.

ETA: I just noticed one stone you listed is rectangular and one is square. Sometimes well-cut square radiants are more in demand (I don't know the current trend), so they will command a larger price than rectangular ones.

Ok thanks, yeah maybe the square cut is the difference. I guess really I was just trying to figure out if my jeweler was giving me a good price at $4400 for a .92ct E/SI1 radiant. I saw the stone in person and it looked fine to me, and I trust the jeweler, but I probably couldn''t tell the difference anyway.
