I wanted your opinions on two GIA stones that are very close in price:

first one:

1.65 CT I-SI1
7.10 x 6.14 x 4.47 mm
Table: 66% Depth: 72.8%
Polish VG, Sym VG, no fluorescence
Pros: looks super clean on the cert (probably best SI1 i''ve seen), has one tiny feather, twinning wisps, and surface graining, looks nice in picture
Cons: faces up small for size, is it too deep?

second one:

1.71 CT I-SI1
7.81 x 6.26 x 4.32 mm
Table: 72% Depth:69%
Polish VG, Sym Good, no fluorescence
I''m awaiting the cert on the second stone.

I know you really need to see radiant''s in person, but I wanted to hear the experts opinions on the two and if you think one will be significantly better than the other.

Thanks!

Edit: I am not an expert by the way, but I do own a radiant.

Garry is right in that it's difficult to choose radiants based on their numbers alone.

However, there are certain combinations that are more likely to be lovely stones. Personally, I think that the first stone is much too deep, and the second one is slightly deep and the table is too large. The greater depth isn't necessarily something that yields poor performance, but a stone with a depth of 72% will appear much smaller face up than a stone with a smaller depth.

Try looking for a radiant with a 60-65 percent depth, 60-65 percent table, 10-15% crown, and it would be nice to have VG/VG polish symmetry but this is less important. These combinations won't necessarily yield a beautiful diamond, but it's a start. Pictures help as well as ASET images as garry suggested.

One other thing. Radiants show more color than rounds, an I color may or may not show a little more warmth than you are comfortable with. SI1 clarity will probably be fine, but verify with the vendor that it's eye-clean before purchase.

thanks for the replies guys. I''m really pretty torn. Part of me wants to hold out for something that faces up bigger for the carat weight, but at the same time that first stone seems really great from a clarity standpoint, twinning wisps and surface graining sound like they''re practically invisible in most conditions from my understanding, and there is only one tiny feather. Most of the SI1''s ive been seeing have been pretty dirty. Any additional advice you can give me would be super helpful.

Thanks!
