Hi, I was looking for princess cut diamonds and i found these two on JA that i like but cant make up my mind which one is better.

I am a newbie when it comes to this so please correct me if i make any errors with explaining my thought process.

This is the first diamond: http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut/0.70-carat-g-color-vs1-clarity-sku-283657

and this is the second: http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/princess-cut/0.70-carat-h-color-vs1-clarity-sku-277395

As i compare them the first one seems to have better color grade, lower polish grade, and on AGS report it looks like it has more imperfections even though they are graded the same. Also the first one has bigger L&W and also a bigger table % which would mean it appears to be bigger (correct?) So to what should i give more importance, color, or clarity, or polish?

The biggest issue i have is with comprehending the "AGSL Computer generated map of diamond" (ASET?). Obviously i want a higher "sparkle" but i do not know how to interpret these. If someone can explain me these ASETs i would be really grateful.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm not an expert, but my eye likes the G better. At VS1 you don't need to worry about the clarity at all.

So funny I was going to say the exact same thing . I liked the G as soon as I looked at it.

Thanks for the answers. I am also leaning toward the G one because od better color and bigger table.

So you think those imperfections are not a big deal? Also what about polish?

Can someone take look at ASETs and give me some explanation.

The big problem for me is that i am new in all this (started educating last night). Also i have almost no xp with real ones. All i have seen so far were online.

Thanks for help

Yes post the ASET. I like the G. I do not like the H.

These are from the AGS certificates posted on JA for these two diamonds.

Also it seems that G is preferred by everyone, can anyone explain why?

Yup. The G. Just watch the video. And see how the facets light up. It's a much brighter stone. Fewer dark areas and smaller ones. Watch them and you'll see it too.

A diamond's purpose is to reflect light. The more light it reflects it better it is cut and doing it's job. The G does a better job of it. The ASET confirms that.

For understanding the ASET: http://www.highperformancediamonds.com/index.php?page=education-performance

Green is reflected light.
Red is direct light.
Blue is no (obscured) light.

The G has much more red and green. And it has smaller blue area concentrations. Enough for contrast, but not too much that it compromises performance.

Thank you for your help. I really appreciate it.

So do you think that the price is good for that diamond?

Also i was thinking about paved setting. Do you think thats ok considering that it is not a big diamond?

I think pave is a lovely choice. At any size.

And yes, I think the G is a good diamond at a fair price. :appl: Congratulations!
