Recently I grabbed this ring second hand. The tourmaline was a vivid gorgeous pink, but the setting was so, so sad.

But for the color and the price who was happy to wear her in her current condition.
I measured the stone and set my mind to pic up a setting *just on the random off chance * I found a setting in the course of my shopping that might fit. I had no opinion on what I was looking for, just let the universe find me a setting.
Not too long after I stumbled on just the ticket. I would have been happy with any style so long as it was flattering. (As some of you know) I’ll take any wild sh!t. However the setting I found was classic and timeless. And… in England. I asked for the dimensions and it sounded like it would fit. So even though I couldn’t return it if it was a bust I pulled the trigger. The setting is platinum and diamonds with a very flat lab ruby.

I sent them both to DK. He was concerned the very chonky tourmaline would not fit in the setting that help the flattest of flat ruby, but I said just try and if it doesn’t work it doesn’t work. They also had to size it from a 4.5 to a 7.5. Not always an easy task- but being mostly plain band- I knew they could make it work.
Luckily the team over there is amazing as always and they did exactly what I asked. The ring took the best part of two half-great rings and turned it into the most fantastic quintessential emerald cut three stone. I love her so.
I’ll share the gina DK pics so as to not leave you hanging, but the photos don’t accurately reflect the color, and they enhance the incisions a little more than my pride would like lol. I will of course get you my own version out in the Midwest sun as soon as it’s here (hopefully Thursday)
