okay Danielle...just for you sweetie...

I spent some time this afternoon clearing off the guest room bed, and putting everything together then clearing out the room from all the debris (aka extra bedding stuff which I just have coming out my ears, who needs three duvet covers and 5 extra pillows???)...which will go into the garage storage area at some point I''m sure. Anyway here are some shots...the room is only PARTIALLY put together so far, I still have to frame up my prints into these frames I bought that are dark wood and then we have to hang them and put up the PB wall shelf as well AND then lastly the bronze stars!! I love the bronze stars by the way, they are AWESOME and they were 1/2 the price as the PB ones and look just as good if not better.

Oh and I have to order a set of white sheets from Overstock so the bed is only partially done too, I don''t have sheets on it right now that is why the duvet is all the way up, when I have the sheets (I may get an eyelet set to match the bedskirt which is a cotton eyelet from PB from 2 years ago, not a cheesy eyelet but a more modern one) I will fold them down and fold the blanket down too to make it more of a ''layered'' look on the bed.

But so far it''s looking GREAT and man I just love the wall color, it''s so warm feeling and yet summery too in a way...the color varies with the light in the corners so it''s light in some areas and darker in others. Amazing what a difference some paint and a new quilt set can make so far! Oh and the lemongrass quilt set goes absolutely perfect with the colors in the room so far. There is black metal (on the mirror and the lamp base and the corner table as well) and then the mahogany accents are looking good so far in little touches and will be even stronger with the bronze stars and the PB mahogany shelf and frames and then the white crispness on the bed kind of just finishes it off visually. I can put a few more ''green'' accents around as well aka the flowers on the nightstand and a candle or two on the PB shelf once it''s up and it should be fab. I''m so excited. I wanna stay in the guest room!!!

Okay so here is the first picture...it''s just of the wall to ceiling to show some contrast on how the color is much darker.

and then a shot of the corner with the little metal table and the saxaphone, a framed picture will go up on this wall to the right, 16x20 with white matting. depending on where i put the other images in the room i may do an image on both walls to mirror each other. or something. this also shows how dark the paint can be at night, this is the dim corner of the room, it's a great contrast!

and then the piece de resistance...the bed and the nightstand etc....it looks great so far!! i actually had these fern pillows which i use on my couch in summer and they match the lemongrass in the fern so i may leave them or maybe i'll get some other ones just for the bed or something. we'll see. maybe a bolster in a dark green would be pretty too. the bronze stars will go up behind the bed, there is one large 28" one and two small 19" ones which i will place at an angle to the large one. also the bed should look more fluffyish after i am able to fold back the down blanket when the sheets are on etc. this picture also shows how light the color can be as well. i love the chameleon effect.

thanks to everyone who dealt with my madness on choosing colors, ESP this room, it was the hardest!! this is actually only one coat of chestertown buff....it covered the walls very well and looks dark enough for me to think we don't want to do a 2nd one. i still do need to do some small touchups though.

stay tuned later this week for when we hopefully get the pictures and stars up on the wall!

That came out really really well! The paint color is very deceptive - looks completely different from picture to picture! It looks really good though and I think the stars on the wall will look awesome.

I think your rooms are looking great. I could use some help with my project.

It looks great Mara! It''s a very cheerful room, I like that. The lemongrass in these photos looks a lot darker than I thought it would, and I think it fits perfectly with the walls. Beautiful daffodils too

So what''s left to paint?

haha thanks tool guy, i don''t know if you''d want my help, it took me like 3 months to figure out what to do with just this one room.

FG...i think that the first picture is probably the most accurate overall as to what you see when you glance in the room (since i took that picture from the door) but the room looks different in each corner, that super dark corner is the dimmest one as well....there is only one window in the room, it''s fairly tall but not wide, so the room is very bright in general but it doesn''t get washed out. i think i worried about that but am glad on how the color turned out, the wall behind the bed IS generally lighter since that is where the light washes into the room. in the morning this room gets sun and it''s very warm and cheerful in there as well.

oh i should also say that it was (is!) gray gray rainy outside when i took these pictures, so the room still looks bright and happy which is totally what i wanted. i love this color!

sunkist, the lemongrass is more like a soft sage, it''s perfect! and it picks up the color a bit from the walls too...great complement.

the OFFICE is the last room, and i honestly don''t know that i will get to it before greg''s sister gets here....i was planning to do it this weekend, but that may be too tall of an order along with finishing up the guest room (since that is where she''s staying!) and touching up the guest bathroom AND hanging the dining room art pieces i bought over a month ago.
40.gif

then she comes next weekend! so next week the house gets a thorough cleaning, and the carpet is getting cleaned as well. the office may have to wait til after the trip...but that may be okay as i am still thinking on the color and it looks okay right now...nothing dire, just a boring wall color! i really like BM HC-110, westerfield moss i think it''s called, which is a dark mossy sage green, but it''s SUPER dark in the office and while there are two huge windows in there for lots of light, i think i may lighten it up to 75% or so and see...i want a dark room but not a TOO dark sullen looking room. there''s lots of dark wood PB office furniture in there too. and since i am so in love with the guest bathroom color i started thinking maybe of going one or two shades darker than the bathroom and getting more of a contrast with the dark wood in the office. hmmm.

oh wow...the room looks great! you did a good job with the painting!

I''m a RL pillow lover myself...all firm in my house

I have that same color in what will eventually be a formal living room/office area. I love the color. Like you said...sometimes it looks a bit darker and then some days it takes on a summery, fresh look. I wasn''t sure how we were going to like it when we moved in but it''s really a great color. Now hopefully my kids don''t destroy this room (it''s their playroom for now) before I get a chance to change and decorate it.
Your room looks great and I love, love the comforter set you chose...simple yet elegant!

Oh, I can''t believe I missed this last night!

The room looks FABULOUS!!!! I love the color, the bedding, the cute flowers on the night stand - it''s perfect!

The lemongrass is a beautiful color & such a perfect compliment to the wall color! I love it!

And I don''t know why you keep saying you aren''t a good painter - the paint job looks fabulous!

ooh! I love it! I am considering painting our living room a similar color!
where did you get the bronze stars? do you have a pic?
36.gif

thanks danielle and pink flamingo!! my family was over for easter and all the gals in the fam loved the paint in that room, they said it made it look very bright and cheery and my mom called it a 'nice mustard'. definitely loving the color big time, it's very bold.

PF the stars are from ebay, this seller is called something like jkaybp or something, the auctions are named 'metal texas lone star' or something like that. she makes them herself and always has a few auctions going. they look just like the PB ones but were basically half price, i paid $100 for one large 28" and two 19" ones and they look GREAT. here is a picture from her auction.

Wow! Awesome! Those look identical. Good to know, I am looking for artwork for our bedroom. :) :)

Hi Mara!

You have great taste!
36.gif

Nice job...Everything looks so great! The wall color goes so well with the quilt.

Thanks guys! The pictures are hung on the walls (I nixed the PB mahogany 3' shelf because it had a big dent in it from being moved around too much I guess (it's been in the closet for 2 years now!) but it actually looks better this way, more simple I think. Now Greg just has to hang the stars...however there is a glitch!

My sheets from Overstock.Com haven't shipped yet. Yep, that means I will be at BBB tomorrow afternoon buying some guest room sheets. Darnit. That's what I get for forgetting to order them til the last minute!

Other than that things are ready in the guest room and bathroom...Greg's sister arrives on Thursday!!

I just have to say after reading this thread about the silk nesting quilt, I had to have the same thing for myself! It feels so luxurious, I love it. I have it on the foot of my king size bed, and it looks great with the honeydew stitched grand duvet. Now I am just trying to get some of the euro shams... I found a WONDERFUL pillow store on eBay, they have the best euro inserts, for cheap! Thanks for the quilt inspiration Mara

ok here are some finished pictures of the guest room....the stars look fab....oh and since my overstock sheets didnt come i actually lucked at out kohls with 500 thread count combed cotton sateen Laura Ashley white sheets that have a tiny eyelet line just like the PB bedskirt i have on the bed, and the set was only $55 and they are fab. i want to sleep in them!!

finished guest room a.jpg

i dont know why the camera made the room look huge and the items on the wall small but that is not how it is in real life, the room is relatively smallish, aka 10x10 and everything in it makes it look quite cozy and in-scale. my SIL loves it!

oh these pictures were taken in the morning with sun coming in, so it's a brighter color. also over by the sax statue i put another framed picture on the bigger wall facing the door.

Oh wow, it looks great Mara. I love the color and the bedding. The stars add a nice touch!!!

MARA!!!! That room looks STUNNING!!!! Love love love all the colors, I just want to run in and take a flying leap onto the bed (without knocking the stars off the wall and onto my head, of course). Love it!!!!

Thanks guys, I am SOOOOOO happy with how it came out. Really, it worked out so well it''s beyond what I had hoped for. It''s so funny but I agonize over this stuff SO long and then in the end it always seems to work out and I try to remember that for next time, aka to have more confidence and choose things more quickly rather than overthinking it, but it just never works.

I did manage to choose the office color for the walls, it''s a dark grayish green and I think I am going to get these 4 whitewashed wall plaques from Ballard for the room which I think will be a great contrast against the wall color AND the mahogany furniture and brighten it up a bit, so that should happen in another ~2 weeks. Then I''ll be DONE DONE DONE with painting..YAY!

Mara everything looks great! and so very very cozy and elegant at the same time...

i just moved into a new house a few months ago and im sooooo stuck on wat to do with decor and color...unfortunately we dont have much variety with bed sheets/colors/furniture/frames over here, so im very limited with choices, but looking at ur pictures (and the bathroom pics too) is just the motivation i needed to get moving with my decorations!!!

can''t wait to see pics of the office when ur done..

ooooh Mara! everything looks great! i love the touch the stars give the room. it looks very "done" y''know?

MARA!
The room looks perfect! I love it all! You did a great job! I love the bedding especially- it is beautimous! I can''t wait to see it in person...
