I have found two diamonds and have both on hold and need help deciding.

This beauty on bluenile signature collection so between this which of the two would you go for? I know the cut is ideal so please help me out:

http://www.bluenile.com/au/diamond-details/LD03808090?keyword_search_value=LD03808090

GIA Report for it showing inclusions http://www.gia.edu/cs/Satellite?reportno=2166075606&childpagename=GIA%2FPage%2FReportCheck&pagename=GIA%2FDispatcher&c=Page&cid=1355954554547

GCAL Report: http://www.gemfacts.com/Cert/
enter numeber : 233090051

or

http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/cushion-cut/1.07-carat-e-color-vvs2-clarity-sku-305030

Both nearly same money but the bluenile is slightly larger LWD and perfect cut.
From the bluenile ASET and reports which is the winner?

There are very minor inclusions with bluenile but im told not seen to the eye and the James Allen has great specs too.

Any help appreciated. ell me the favourite and why? this is a hard decision :shifty:

Re: Two diamonds on hold help me choose -James Allen vs Blue

if it were me, and I knew that the bigger one is ideal cut, eye-clean and colorless, then I'd go bigger. That .35mm would be worth it to me to drop down on color/clarity. E/VVS2 is overkill for me. I'm a G/eye-clean SI1 kinda girl myself (so that I can go bigger) ;)

Re: Two diamonds on hold help me choose -James Allen vs Blue

For what it's worth, I see you wrote that you know the cut is ideal on the Blue Nile stone. It's worth mentioning that the "signature ideal" bit on their site is a vendor term for marketing. It doesn't necessarily reflect any objective analysis by a lab for light performance.

Also, you mentioned comparing ASETs; I don't see them. Happen to have a direct image or link? :read:

Re: Two diamonds on hold help me choose -James Allen vs Blue

Sorry i should have said that i have not gotten the ASET for the James Allen diamond yet but have asked for them to be sent to me and will post when i receive them.

I understand that the Bluenile ideal diamond is a marketing ideal but surely they cant brand it as being ideal if it is not and say its in the top 1% of cuts?

With the bluebile ASETs already provided how does it fair out as both diamonds are similar money snd i want the best. I do agreee with the JA maybe over kill but i would like some expert opinions and if you had choice which would go for and why?

Hoping Gypsy sees this and can chip in???

That's where you lost me; I don't see the Blue Nile ASETs in any of your links. I see H&A viewer images which are not the same thing.
If you somehow got some ASET images from BN (which I didn't think they normally do) perhaps you forgot to post that link?
At this point there isn't necessarily enough information to make a properly informed decision. Part of the trick of using vendors that don't provide lots of images and data is that you're kind of buying blind.

Re: Two diamonds on hold help me choose -James Allen vs Blue

Oh sorry im confused now. I thought the images on the bluenile GCAL report were ASET ones with the red and blue colouring?

Maybe I am wrong and slightly confused now as i thought they were ASETS?

From the facet dimensions and other specifics how does bluenile compare to JA?

Thanks

Re: Two diamonds on hold help me choose -James Allen vs Blue

Not enough info to do an accurate comparison of the stones.

Check out these two options, where you know the light performance:

1.1ct, H, VS1

http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/10291/

1ct, I, VS1
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/12385/

Just going to throw this out there, as it's really a great stone:
If you KNOW that the recipient likes lower colored stones, check out this option -

1.34ct, O, VS1
- August Vintage Cushion

Re: Two diamonds on hold help me choose -James Allen vs Blue

I do like the 1.34 stone thank you for that link. To be honest i dont think my partner would really notice as long as its blinger but i would like to see compared to a H.

I am liking this and will contact GOG now
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/12173/

Do the ASETs look good on that?

The ASET is killer.

Make sure your partner is comfortable with this color stone. It does have Medium Blue fluor, which may help the stone appear more white, face-up in sunlight.

If she is comfortable - jump on that stone NOW. It is a completely unique cut (August Vintage is a registered trademark) and scores AGS0 on light performance. They say they're aren't any deals in diamonds, but this stone is currently over 10% off, due to Good Old Gold's sale.

GOG will make you a video, so ask to see that stone next to another, for side-by-side comparison purposes.

If that stone doesn't work out for you, GOG has access to some of the best cushions around, so they will definitely be able to find something to fit your needs.

Best of luck!

Thank you again for your reply.

Thing is I dont want to tell my partner as will ruin the surprise snd she does not have a clue about diamonds honestly just as long as it sparkles haha.

I will contact them now do they have live chat? The only thing is the colour and if it is to far down im unsure?

I will ask for a video. Also if i prefer modern or vintage look hmmm

Re: Two diamonds on hold help me choose -James Allen vs Blue

Hi,

I responded on your other thread. The Blue Nile stone is an ideal stone because the red and blue shows the hearts and arrows/ So, that is the cut. I'm learning too, but you are having a hard enough time, that you had better find out if your partner wants a lower color stone. To go from E to O is one big jump. I find that as well meaning as Rocky Racoon can be, he sometimes just throws things out there, not related to a search and confuses newbies even more. (Sorry Rocky).

I'm lost on this now.

Hi smithcompton,

Appreciate the info you have provided. I dont think she would like a coloured stone and that as near to colourless the better i think as all the dianonds ive shown her have been E, F, G type and she has been impressed with them.

I am really leaning towards the bluenile ideal cut stone and it suits my budget better also.

I do like the GOG 1.34 one but not in an O colour.

So far its really between the Bluenile and JA but i csnt see the bluenile like the JA site.

#1: You're wrong about the interpretation of the stone
#2: I literally said 'just throwing this out there' when I posted the link, separate from my other more-specific examples, as it is worth consideration, with the caveat mentioned. And it *is* worth consideration, whether you think so or not.

I stand by everything I've said here.

Please refrain from critiquing specific posters in the future. It does not reflect well on you.

Re: Two diamonds on hold help me choose -James Allen vs Blue

Hi Rocky,

Sorry if you were offended. This poster has another thread open where people tried to help him. I have been following that thread in the hope of learning . If I am wrong about the hearts and arrows, please correct me. If the stone is no good, say so. Please, the why?

Its not a big criticism to say that I find some posters seem to just throw things out there. Just my opinion that they should try to give the op what they asked for.
