I haven't said much about Trump or the election itself but this is just too much. I realize people have strong feelings about him, he has said reprehensible things, has caused a divide among Americans and the list could go on

BUT

This is someone's father, husband, friend and to call for him to be killed is absolutely vile. Also the violent protests where innocent people can get hurt, I understand people are upset but our children are watching. When they read these headlines and see people setting fires and destroying property because they don't agree with an outcome, what is that teaching them? That it's okay to act out when it doesn't go your way?

No, I'm sorry, this is taking it too far. I hope they prosecute any person who is responsible for threats against Trump, it is against the law and more importantly it is evil.

Your response that anyone deserves to be assassinated is disturbing.

People reap what they sow. He sowed fear, hate and anger and is getting it in return. Probably a fraction of what Obama has had to deal with during his term.

Well, I would have said the same for Obama and I didn't vote for either of these people. Sorry, I just can't condone taking a life because they are a loose cannon. Violence is never the answer.

1) This is a problem every president since the beginning of presidents has had. It's not a new issue. Not to say it isn't important, but kind of comes with the territory.
2) Presidents have pretty good body guards.
3) I don't see you whining about all the threats previous presidents received.
4) Real people are getting hurt in the real world, and you also aren't whining about/for them. https://twitter.com/i/moments/796417517157830656
5) TF you happens when someone uses such hateful language towards sooo many people? They aren't going to respond very nicely.

telephone, this is NOT whining, it is disgust and outrage and just because I don't post about every crime against humanity doesn't mean that those are less significant. I am commenting about an article I came across today and how sick it makes me and yes I understand he is not the first to be subject to this but that doesn't make it any more acceptable.

Didn't he specifically ask that someone at his rally "Knock the crap out of them"? Didn't he say "I'll pay your legal bills?"

He lowered the discourse to this level, and it apparently worked well for him.

Sadly, that's what everyone is thinking and our society will degrade because of it.

Wait, I said that wrong; society will degrade because of HIM.

On the other hand, Pence doesn't believe in evolution (because his IQ is apparently below 80  ), so I can't condone an assassination.

If enough voters are shitty enough we get a shitty president.
It's called democracy.

But calling for anyone to be assassinated is wrong.
Period.

A lot of crap is said in a heated contest. Hillary' mouth was not clean either.

But after the election, things normalize.

The running Trump will not be the same as the elected Trump. At least I hope not. And I will give him the benefit of the doubt until then.

Oh, God. ;( That's all just so horrible.

Monkeys. They see Trump acting like an ass, and they have to act like one too. Monkey see, monkey do.

This could tip us into a civil war. . .

US reaction to bin Laden's assassination. As with everything else, there are inconsistencies about how we define what is moral and ethical. I believe Trump poses an equivalent threat to the USofA as any foreign despot.

I never said anything of the kind. He spoke and incited violence, which has provoked more of the same. I didn't say he deserved it (nor does any president or anyone serving public office). There have been threats against presidents since, I don't know when. And the US has a large mentally ill population. Just saying I'm not surprised, and also don't believe the number of threats will be much different than previous presidents.
ps anyone making threats to a sitting or prospective president using twitter is an idiot.

Calling for the assasination of any one is wrong. But especially a sitting President or a President elect.

Not really sure what you are expecting me to say, obviously I do not condone racism or any type of prejudice or hatred towards any group. People have free will and the ability to decide how they will conduct themselves, if they are going to act in hate it is a sign of their character, if we are to blame Trump for the actions of these people that is really just giving everyone a free pass to not have to take personal responsibility for their actions.

I don't want to see anyone deported or have their rights stripped away or be treated as less than. I also don't want to see anyone be assasinated either

A simple "Yes I believe those things are wrong as well" would have sufficed. :wavey:

Wow, okay well I didn't realize there was any question about that but I guess true character is hard to decipher in an online forum. Also not sure how or why my beliefs are being called into question, since when is objecting to the intentional murder of another person reason to question another's morals?

I'm not calling anything about you or anybody else into question, actually, just literally trying to establish the most basic of common ground between all decent human beings so the world doesn't seem quite as bleak and scary as it's turning out to be. Which is why the first thing I said was that I agree that those tweets calling for Trump's assassination are absolutely wrong.
