Hi ladies! We've just returned from our honeymoon to beautiful Charleston, SC and have a handful of non-pro pictures of our August 28th wedding to share.

It was really, truly a great party. I had so much fun, and from the stories that are filtering back, I think everybody else did as well! It was also an extremely emotional day for me. Two days prior to the wedding, my sister and I lost our most beloved grandmother to a sudden heart attack. She was active and in excellent health, with no prior history of heart trouble, so it was a huge shock to us all. She was truly a cornerstone of our family and we talked about canceling some of the festivities planned for the weekend but decided in the end that Grandma, who hated being the reason for any sort of fuss, would not have wanted that for the world and we went through with everything we had planned. We all loved her very much and one of my fondest memories will always be her trying gamely to teach my rhythm-impaired husband how to do a foxtrot the weekend before the wedding, so we wouldn't totally whiff it on the dance floor for our first dance.

Without further ado, here are the pics:

Bridesmaid and bride shoe shots - if any of you remember my shoe dithering, I did break down and get the custom ones done from Nina, in rose pink satin uppers and blue leather soles. The pro pictures will have many more shoe shots I'm sure, since the first thing the second photographer did when he arrived was hijack my shoes and not return them for 15 minutes!

Dress shot! Hanging up before I unpinned it from the cardboard form and discovered it needed a very quick ironing to take out some wrinkles - yay for last minute! In the background is Bridesmaid Station Alpha - Hair and Makeup.

Another dress shot - closeup with one of the parasols I rented from Bella Umbrella for the pictures.

My friend took this photo, and I don't think I've ever looked better - let's hear it for professional makeup artists!

Me in the dress for the first time, my thought process was something like "omygaw I'm getting MARRIED."

My husband and my brother, I love this picture because my brother is trying so hard not to smile and be dignified, but my husband is all "HAY GUYS WHAT'S UP?"

My dad walking me down the aisle - I am possibly the world's biggest daddy's girl so it's amazing to me that I didn't start crying at all walking down with him.

Us saying our vows...it was a cloudless sunny day and there were all these little butterflies everywhere, I'm hoping the professional photographer captured some because they flew all around us while we said our vows.

I forgot to take my bouquet from my sister when we walked back down and had to do the bride equivalent of a deep back bend to grab it from her - I think this shot is a little blurry because the person holding the camera was giggling :D

A closeup shot of one of the dinner table arrangements and one of the place cards I made. I had an alphabet stamp set, a bird stamp, and bought sage green scalloped cards from paper-source and hand stamped all 198 place cards for every guest, first and last name. A labor of love and time I really didn't have but omg they turned out SO CUTE. People took them home with them.

Overhead shot of part of the dining room during dinner.

My husband and I cutting our pie. We started dating because of an apple pie and he baked one for us to cut at the reception instead of a cake - the guests got cupcakes (banana chocolate chip cake with peanut butter icing, red velvet, and Guinness chocolate cake with Bailey's ganache and Jameson's icing) and mini apple tartlets.

My sister and I talking with our grandfather, who really pulled through for me and I'm so glad he decided to come to the wedding even after his devastating loss. He had a very good time and we got to dance together, another great memory I'll have.

My brother finally stopped being serious and started having a good time - lost the jacket, the beret, and started busting it out on the dance floor.

My sister and her boyfriend smoking a stogie together out under the tent we had attached to one side of the venue. We did clear-top with fabric and lights, it looked amazing.

My sister labeled this one "Mad Men, Wedding Style."

more, more, more......come on, you're holding out on us, right? (can't wait for the pros.)

you looking ravishing----your dress     ! everything looks wonderful & fun & classy all at the same time.

and my condolences about your grandmother, that is so awful, but i'm sure she was smiling down on you that day.

Sorry to hear about your grandma, but it looks like it was a great day.
You started dating cos of apple pie?? How cute then to have a pie to cut.
Great pics.

What stunning pics!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congrats!!!

Your wedding was BEAUTIFUL! Everything looks so classic and elegant. The time you spent on those place cards was well worth it -- those are amazing.

I'm sorry for your sudden loss. Grandmas are very special people. Your grandma would be pleased that you went ahead with your wedding plans :)) .

Claritek and Bean haha thank you! Alyson Hannigan is quite a compliment, and no I've never gotten that before. To paraphrase Jane Austen: at the age of twenty-nine, without having ever been handsome, I felt all the good luck of having a pro makeup artist!

Everybody thank you! I'm so glad you were all able to pull exactly what I was going for in all the decor from just these few pictures! Soft and romantic, sort of a soft focus on everything. Not ultra-glamorous but gently glamorous and comfortable. And thank you for your kind words and wishes regarding my grandmother, she absolutely was a special person and is already greatly missed.

I did come up with a few more pictures from my friends - there was one I could NOT post though, I really wanted to because it's hi-larious. Two of my friends decided to get naked and streak the 9th green at the club - but they're both super pale so it just looks like these two white blurs with arms raised running around. CLASSY.

Here's a shot of the cupcakes - by all accounts excellent, though sadly I did not even get time to eat one.

I like this picture because it shows off my grandma's bracelet and my husband's wedding bands - he has two on because he wore his father's wedding band on his right hand. His father passed away when my husband was 16.

My stylist, who I've been going to for years, wanted a picture of me with my hair "all big and 80's." She was having a contest with herself to see how big she could get my hair.

Two of my beautimous bridesmaids! The one on the right is a dancer, in case you couldn't tell by her ridiculously excellent posture.

Here's a shot of everybody dancing to "Unforgettable", which my husband chose for his mother/son dance and then called the guests in to dance with them towards the end.

My husband and I with my dear friend, an opera singer who sang during the ceremony for us. The power of their eyebrows compels you!

And this being Pricescope, here's a bling shot!

That's it for reals! I have to wait on my professional pictures now. ;(
